my best friend as a night-elf.. even though she has eyes, and the picture is really bright.. I can't do anything about that now.(she got the picture as a present and I can't change it)
but doesn't she look lovely? (and yes, she really is that beautiful)
yes, it's me in the avatar. I know i'm nothing like a ghoul, i'm more of a nightelf according to people when they see my ears.. and a deathknight when it comes to defeating people in combat. but according to wormskull, my selfportrait looked as a ghoul, and therefor, i'm a ghoul. ^^
Its look pretty fine here, wormskull just got to get in mind that ppl arent all made of the same proportions, forehead, nose type, eyes shape, ects, its all vary and very different from a person to another
Btw if this is you in that avatar ill say you really dont have any ghoul affinity =P
sorry if i have to disappoint you wormskull, but the face is a bit tilted.. and yes, you take things directly of the book, but you forget something.. the things in the book, are about the average person.
and yes, I'm aware that there are some faults in this picture, her face is too wide for example, but she is not an average person.
we did a test in my class, we tried to get the average proprtions to fit our face. it didn't fit mine at all. am I a mutant now?
things aren't always what some people say, and i must say.. your approach to art is not what real artist's see. i'm sorry, but it really is like that. you don't see art as something artistic, to you, it's something that comes out of a man-made-machine. it's not like that. real art have emotions and tell something. i'm sorry.
It's a face-to-face view, the face isn't tilted. i am right about the forehead, most likely if i'm wrong it's beceause the person where this rule doesn't apply is a mutant. her eyes would fit about 9 times in width in her face. even in your av i can see that your face is 3-forehead. today, the human skull have a certain shape, of course chins differs and a bit of facial features change, but they're far from being cataclysmic enough so it's 4-forehead or 2-forehead. you can't say no to this ; her forehead do have a flaw. your av features a certain angle, this art don't.
about the nose, sticking out the nose is good, and the nose doesn't get bigger, the nose is usually equal in lenght and width at a certain point. of course some womans don't have big noses, but some, if not all do stick out.
This is really nice. She has a soft, pretty, feminine face. It's really cool. Shame it's a bit bright tho!
Wormskull, your criticisms are idiotic. Her nose is fine. Females generally don't have big noses. And as for her forehead, you'd probably be surprised to discover (if you actually observed peoples' faces) that not everybody has a forehead 1/3 the length of their face. Her face is also angled slightly down, so it's no wonder that the size of the forehead is accentuated, since the forehead is closer to the viewer than her chin. The eyebrows also look fine, and she has a slightly thoughtful expression on her face.
There's no problem with criticising work, Wormskull, but when you attempt to find flaws that aren't even there...
wormskull, i agree with much you're saying.. but.. keep in mind, this is a person, not how a person should look like. this is how my friend toshi really looks. she has the most proportional face i've ever seen. and about the nose.. the same thing there. her nose looks like that. it gives her character. =)
but i completly agree with the eyebrow (never make a painting as a present for a friend, the night before you're going to give it away ^^), and the shading was really soft. but the time for more shading wasn't there.
also keep in mind, that this picture is a finished one, and not like the one on the dryad, that's just a simple sketch without much work.
but, this was my first drawing of a night elf, so i'm happy. and toshi loved it. =) thanks for your comment.
since it doesn't have human ears, i would find it normal that where the ear attaches ( where the inner junk connects to ) at the mid-cheek level. still on the right side, the eyebrow is too elevated for my eye. sadly, the forehead is gigantic, the regular proportions of a forehead would equal to 1/3 the size of the face, while now it would only fit from two to 2½ times in her face. The problem is that the hairline is too elevated, thus creating a huge forehead. One eye seems to look at the viewer, the other seems to slip away. since it's a portrait, and not a drawing of a whole donkey humanoid, i don't have much to say anymore. the shading is mild ( or is it the scanner? ), however, i would find appropriate a projected shadow from the skull of her on the neck. the skull stick out of the neck as the nose is out of the visage, it's reasonnable to put a shadow at this place. her nose, towards the top, betwen the two eyes, seems to do a weird arc. about the nose, it seems tiny, don't be afraid to stick out the nose, it's not very sticked out by itself. it features a good nostril view from that angle of view, but something gotta be wrong with the nose; either that weird arch at the top, or the unsuffisance of the lenght of the breathing tool. This part, the nose, is where i am generally unsure..
better eyelids and generally fancier than the previous artwork. and facial proportions are nearly flawless ( hairline isn't in the face :\ ). it's quite refreshing having quality arts, keep sending them
