a study that goes together with the eye "meh".

I've noticed that many people on this site have problem with lips, so here I've made a close-up.
A golden rule: the upper area on the lower lip, are almost always the area that catch the light.
And don't make lines around the lips. just shadow the shape and let the picture work with you instead.

and yes, I know about the flaws on this.. it's far from perfect.

the lip it self looks natrual (and that is what I think you would like to express?) but like others mentioned the upper lip looks a bit like it is folded inside, what you might have done as well was ensmallen the lower lip to compensate the upper one.
Tip: try to make tose gaps at both sides of the lips a bit larger that always makes a nice smile.4/5

seagull: I was thinking about doing a tutorial for basic lip and eye-shaping, and hopefully I will have the time for it.
I guess you know the flaws so I won't try to comment you. And suggestively I think it would be a lot better to put this in the art forums. Maybe like a tutorial.
@saborea: alright I am not good at explaining stuff

Draw a line on your face, or make an imaginary line from the all the way left side of your lips and make the line go up
the line is about in the middle of the eye
rexfist - yeah, probarbly by then I will make a face of it. It depends on how much my hands shake, but maybe. we'll see. ^^

Saboera - I so knew that you were going to love WoW! and no, it's not out in Europe until february or so, but I will get it the same day it's released.

blackdeath - yes, you're right, on a perfect person you can draw a straight line from the side of the lips, and it will hit the middle of the eye. on me however, that is out of question since I don't draw perfect, I draw reality.

thanks for all your comments! :D
^^ so like - by march we should be able to take the whole set and piece it together?

You know about the flaws? Then one need not tell you :kwazed: I think its a gorgeous lippie

Hey nice lips, and the eye was nice too, indeed the top lip is a little thin, worm your like half wrong >_< again it depend of the artist style and black death, try to be more... specific...

Offtopic: Tari is WoW is out yet in your place? too busy with the game to get on msn anymore -_-'
i noticed that the first time i watched anime. in anime they end ... halfway pupil and ductape
I learned throught studies that the end of one side of a lip is in lined up with the middle of the eye on its side
yes, I know. from the beginning the upper lip was supposed to be bigger, but as usual with me, the sketch became a mess when I tried and I gave up that project. >_< (some day I will correct it)
I don't have the hunger to draw every day anymore, but I'm always working on some sketches. it's hard for a abstract artist like me to work with realistic art, but I try. =)
ah that's interesting. the lower lip could be smaller. it do take some minor studies to start getting the lips right. its still a subject that confuses me. keep submitting drawings, the section is hungry. occasional drawings or monthly drawings aren't enough. draw everyday like i do.

also im pretty sure this website would help a lot of beginners with its amazingly easy facial traits tutorial http://www.portrait-artist.org/face/index.html
