Welcome to Battleship Islands v1.62
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Introduction:
-------------

A lot of time has been spent making this map as good as it can be. Every decision that was made to improve this map was considered based on how much it would improve the gameplay and the fun had playing.

Battleship Islands is based on the open source version 3 by Sked.

Changes:
--------

	Map:

The first major difference between this map and others is the map layout. It is completely different to the classic Sked maps, giving a new perspective to the game and creating more opportunities to sneak up on opponents as the fighting space is considerably larger.

	Trading:

With a new map comes a new set of trading locations and missions as well as a
completely different approach to trading itself. As the map is much more open the trading ships are slower than most other ships, this means that to succeed at the later missions requires a lot more skill. You can no longer simply hit the barrier button and escape. Two towers have been added to each side of the map to make it harder for the traders to take the shortest route, which would also put them out of the normal fighting area. There is currently one traders reward for traders who go the distance, and another one will be added in the next version. The first trade who gets to 260 wood can purchase the Flying Dutchman at the shipwreck in the northwest corner of the map. This ship comes equipped with 6 slots, giving the trader the option to fight and trade.

	Ships:

All of the classic ships have been kept, but quite a few changes have been made to their abilities to improve the variety. Some abilities have been moved around because they suit the premise of other ships better. All ships now come with 5 abilities.

Four completely new ships have been added:
Outrider: A fast support ship very useful for teamplay.
Pocket Battleship:	A quick ship which packs a decent punch and has
enough hp to take reasonable damage.
Flying Dutchman:	A trading ship, see the notes above.
Raft: You have to see it to believe it.

	Weapons:

I've kept the classic weapons that we are all so fond of with some slight modifications, and created quite a few new weapons to add an extra edge. Most new weapons were added one at a time to checked carefully to see how each one fits in with the other weapons for range, damage and cost.

	Items:

The cost of sails have increased so that the trade boat does not get the best sail it possibly can by the time it has done 4 basic missions. It also means that the players choice for speed is a much bigger one. An extra 65% speed bonus sail has been added to the elven library on the southeast corner of the map.

The stone, bronze and golden hulls now add armour to the ship as well as damage reduction to give that extra boost. A new coral hull has been added to the spawning grounds halfway up the western side of the map. This hull gives a speed and hp boost to your ship, but the downside is that you will take more damage than other ships.

I hope you get as much fun out of this map as I had making it, and I look forward to feedback from everyone. You cannot improve a map if you don't have feedback.

Yours Sincerely

Master_Jacques
