Ok I really enjoyed playing this map A LOT and have come to learn some things I will
share with you guys. I hope these will dismiss the previous statements about bugs
and help give insight into items/quests. First of all a basic outline of how to
build a successful hero... When picking a hero I have heard rumors that each race
has natural bonuses toward using class specific items(best attack speed and
criticals), so the max hero level is 103 and your stats at this level should look
SOMETHING like this:<table border>
<td>race<td>type<td>str<td>agi<td>int<tr>
<td>orc<td>melee<td>150<td>136<td>30<tr>
<td>dark elf<td>sniper (gauntlet)<td>100<td>186<td>30<tr>
<td>human<td>caster<td>20<td>2<td>294<tr>
<td>elf<td>roger (bow)<td>100<td>186<td>30
</table>
Note you can create hybrids with completely diff stats, but just remember to always
end str and int with a 0 and agi with a 6(unless a pure caster). Some casters
prefer to give a few points to agi to get +1/+2 armor and some more str for hit
points when fighting bosses. It is very difficult to quest for a pure caster. Now
to the playing guide, start something like this:
First hit escape and add strength every level until you get 20 str, only attack
level 1 passives, once you get 23 gold visit the warlock baalsim and buy "spell
book: heal". After you get the 20 base str, add a bit of int as you go then start
pumping agility (unless you are a caster put only points into intel).
Do not add too much strength at first, because it will take you forever to level.
Note that every 10'th point of agility you gain +1 bonus armor (this starts at 6 so
always stop agi on a 6). Now go do the first quest (see quests below) to get a
weapon and use heal to stay alive. This gives you enough gold to buy armor as well,
but I usually skip that and just make my own. Now do the second and third quests
right away and then go kill loads of golems, they drop gems you can use/sell as well
as magic stones and mithril (which is needed for most recipes). Collect as much as
you need until you are ready to make your first items. For sniper make your
gauntlet immediately, its easy and requires no mithril! You can sneak to the second
town by going north till you hit the castle, then stay along the wall as you run to
the town. There is only one horned cerv you will aggro but just keep running and he
wont kill you. This is good for orc also to get free greater axe and for mage to
get staff. I don't even fool around with making 'decent' weapons/armor, I go for
good pieces so that I don't waste the mithril/magic stones.. As I hate looking for
those ;o A good build would be weapon first (except for elf, long bow is hard to
make), then make bracer and and your first stone should go toward a holy helm, which
pandora sells the recipe to. So typical builds, which you should be able to pull
off by level 30ish should be:<table border>
<td>race<td>slot 1<td>slot 2<td>slot 3<td>slot 4<td>slot 5<td>slot 6<tr>
<td>orc<td>great axe<td>stone gloves<td>holy helm<td>steel plate<td>cloak of
protection<td>(empty)<tr>
<td>dark elf<td>gauntlet<td>bracer<td>holy helm<td>magic shield<td>elven
plate<td>cloak of protection<tr>
<td>human<td>magic/crystal staff<td>intense cold helm<td>magic shield<td>stone
gloves<td>steel plate<td>cloak of protection<tr>
<td>elf<td>long bow<td>bracer<td>holy helm<td>elven plate<td>cloak
of protection<td>(empty)
</table>
Level till you get 52 then find a party and do the harder quests, the rewards are
GREAT! Orc should make a full swing hammer (find from level 9 ogres), dark elf
should find tear of wind to make power gauntlet (forgotten harpies drop it, ifrit
quest for recipe), human should either go caster (works well with teleport scrolls
in the maze) or be summoner and use base magic staff as it greatly increases
summons, and elf should pray to find ingrediants for sayha's bow (which is tear &
feather of wind as well as ogre blood?) which is increadibly hard. Either way, have
patience and leave your computer running overnite when searching for items with your
hero on autoheal. You can also buy mercs, which really helps so much. Here is my
patent money making merc scheme: buy special mercs till u get 2 healers, suicide
any haste or summoners and max out on default mercs. Help your mercs get setup and
let em do the job. If you practice a bit, you can gauge where to best put them to
make the most gold, but you can also use them to look for harder items such as +0
gloves. You can use 1 healer and 2 default mercs per owl bear and really increase
your chances. The best spot for money making I have found is the dead center of
map, there is a perfect spot to camp 3 level 6 gouls and 1 level 7 ghast. I have
made over 150k while sleeping over nite! And best of all that leaves your hero free
to camp elsewhere. This brings in tons of dough to buy those enchat scrolls.
On the subject of enchat scrolls, know that after +4, there is a chance the scroll
will fail and waste a lot of money.. So what you should do is get every item to +4
first, then only buy scroll of greater enchat (at west most shop in castle) as they
have better chance to success and there is a chance also it will add +2 or +3!!
Item drops:<table border>

<td>magic stone<td>harpie, golem, level 3 skeleton<tr>
<td>feather of wind<td>forgotten harpy, harpy<tr>
<td>tear of wind<td>forgotten harpy<tr>

</table>Other facts:
* To talk to npc, attack them. For quests, you must talk 2 times and after the second time consent to the quest.
* The save/load code works, period. Any complaining aren't typing the correct code. An easy way to ensure you do not get the wrong code is to use the print screen key after you type -save, doing this creates a new file in your \\Warcraft III\Screenshots\ directory.
* There is a bug if you move a helm around in your inventory, the spells wont work. If this happens, drop the helm and pick it back up.
* If you have a spell that is ALSO in your helm it can bug out as well, drop all items, unlearn spell, then pick back up items.
* You can not use a book if there are other stackables in your inventory (items with a 1 by them, gems, scrolls, recipes, etc.) Drop them first then read the book.
* To unlearn a spell, use the same book again.
* Take over the castle if you are high level, and lower the taxes or lure noobs into their death or whatever ;o Ken is fun to taunt.. watch out for the mages. The castle could also be used for team games, whoever can take over first wins!
