Can't Wait For MOre !!!! Horray For Map med Guy !!!!!!!!!!!!! 8) 8) 8)
Med.MapGuy, sweet campaign, but I dled you're Starwars campaign. I was very disappointed. Wtf, no lightsabres that look REAL? Wtf when do Jedi's have Metamorphosis and Evasion, or Immolation that was kinda screwed. The UI looked a little weird too, hard to read tooltips for skills and what not. Sorry to be harsh, but seriously that's what I think, maybe you could work on it? :( But yeah the campaign Joes Quest and Joes Quest 1.5 are awesome! I actually played 1.5 before this cause this link was broken. Everything seemed clearer now! Aight that's all, keep up the good work. Can't wait for Joe's Quest 2! If there is one.
Nice one!

I aslo liked your use of PH words in you campaigns

But i can't DL this gold version....

It seems you'v run on some error. Custom stuff probly won't work. Do you have lattest update of the game? You didn't rip map out the campaign file!?! Contact me if you still have some problems.
When i played the first map i saw purple Squares and i didnt see little Timmy and his dad plus i cant click on him.
I just love it... Ive looked for a long time, for a campaign like this... I laughed my head of in all the Monkey island references.... Since i am a big fan of Monkey Island :D...

Just one little problem... I the 6 chapter i found a little bug... But it was only little. There is a little island with an iceshard on it... Its actually just a corner... I unloaded Lil'Timmy on it, and then he was stuck. He couldnt go on the transport ship again...

But... The campaign is defiently a 5/5... Loved the story, the comic, and defiently the textures and that... Very good indeed...
I can't do multiplayer RPG's... Too complicated for its own good... :( But there are times when I think about makin' one. But with World of Warcraft out... Makes me think twice. Try instead Tommi's series of RPGs. They're great fun and I think they're multiplayer capable?

Dreacon!! Yey! Expect to see more than just Monkey Island references for the sequel, folks.
TIHIS WAS TIGHT! ive play this one and mordorks quest but i cant find the second one though WHERE IS IT!!!!!!!
OMG OMG OMG OMG! 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000\5
Hmm, I think Meddy makes only campaigns. Even though, who knows maybe some day, he comes out with great idea of makeing rpg. Any way if it happes, I'll be there to help him. Mean while, let's just play the fantastic campaigns he has made.
ever thought of doing a rpg for 2 players? me and my cousin love to play rpg's and can't simply find a good one.. :?
some one played to much monky island :P
5/5

5/5 definetly i do love it :D
It's a really great campaign. 5/5 for sure! X is my fav character, Too bad he doesn't last long though. well great map as i'm typing this i am downloading mordorks quest so i will comment on that later. Anyway nice work.
BOAHHHHHHHHHHHH I just love it.
god this is so gay!!!!! i wanna play this campaign so badly but wen i try to click link to dl it doesnt come up!!! oops i only had to wait like 2 secs ^.^
Med. MapGuy, you are a genious! You created an awesome campaign that i absolutely loved (although i was worried about mom walking over to the screen and seeing all the foul language).

First, all the funny-ness (not a word, i know) sarcasm, and satire. It was submersive in some parts, as i fealt scared upon looking at the HUGE giants.

Second, the plot. Having Mordork lose all sense of pity was a twist, but he was replaced. I was never bored a moment in this campaign.

Oh, i can't wait for Joe's Quest 2!

one thing, is that Sylvanis wasn't undead until AFTER the attack on the World tree. but this didn't take away from the gameplay.

I also loved the 3 wishes thing, and how Wally warded Timmy's wish off. LOL

Well, 5/5, and I will always look for your maps.
Well, Med had team for this campaign. Me and Armel helped him. I did the texture work and all those fantastic models belong to Armel, but yess the story, terrain and triggers are Med.Mapguy's masterpices.

I my self know how hard it is to create a story. It must be logic, interactive, understandable and match warcraft3 story. I change my campaign story details a lot, and each time I delete what I'v done before and spend half a day makeing triggers and stuff to fit for new story, then I change it again. And so I haven't done much yet

I feel as though I should get back to working on Joe's Quest II, now that ya mention this! Lets make it more "story" oriented! I'm workin' on it!

AWESOME! I just got done playing this after Dling it like......three weeks ago. Does need a LOT of work in my opinion(i.e. Valley of Giants mission), but it was still an awesome map. My favorite part though was the Monkey Island references! That was hilarious. Keep up the good work. 5/5

I was wonderin' when someone would mention the Monkey Island references. They're so dang obvious! :P What do you mean it needs a lot of work?? This is the Gold version you know...

This is !!! It is so very funny! I really liked it, just as much as i liked the ''normal'' version...You, Med. MapGuy, is a truly great mapmaker...6/5

Med, I'm aware how hard it is to create a good campaign story. It takes tremendous amounts of time, and one may very easily fail to create a novel and coherent story, where characters act with showing great intelligence. Even Blizzard failed in it (many character decisions were naive). But nonetheless, the story is a crucial component of an RPG adventure.

Of course, time spent on the story is away from something else. My team (GG&K) spent about 50% of the total time creating the story and gameplay innovations for our dwarf campaign, mainly because we were skilled in the job, being long-time dungeon masters and roleplayers. We didn't create novel graphics or cinematics very much.

I really congratulate you for this campaign. I think this was one of the best campaigns I've played (especially two first maps - they were fantastic). It is truly a great achievement for a one-man team. But still I like to encourage people, especially those working in groups, to spend more time on creating the story and keeping it coherent and intelligent throughout the whole campaign. The story, after all, lends meaning to cinematics and graphics, making them fun and memorable.

This is, naturally, my own preference. I like story and gameplay innovations over mindless action and neat graphics, and I think there are several people like me out there. =)

Cheers!
I agree with Med, the story was about trio getting the hell out of the Lordaeron!

Now, the story of the "Silverspoon Seaport" was about Trio's struggle getting into seaport to save there asses. And to add some spices, they meet those famos characters of warcraft3. It also showed again, how careless and idiotic are the 3 members of the Trio.

And no, the majority of the effort had not gone to graphics. Well mine did, but Med worked long houers makeing this Terrain and Triggers. I must admit that there are "stuck" problems in 6th map.
A very fair review, Tommi. One which I am inclinced to agree with... But you gotta understand, I was a one man team back then when I made the original (until now, actually) and when I decided on the re-release, I didn't want to change the original elements of the story. But yeah, the first level had great potential... Damn!

The second chapter was also good, but then the campaign started to deteriorate to hack'n'slash, and the lovely drunkard Joe and his kid became undead-ass-whopping heroes. What a disappointment. The whole feel of the drunkard and his small, everyday problems was gone.

Erm... The story was about this trio's journey to Silverspoon seaport you know... And Joe has maintained his drunken self until the end.

It would've been difficult coming up with an epic story all about a drunkard and his problems.

On the rest of the review:
Yes, the 'stuck' bugs were present from what I heard after the campaign was released. :? And its a shame you didn't really enjoy the 4th level since I thought it was quite fun in my opinion.

Me in trouble...
This presents me with a big problem of how I should do the sequel. Should I continue with the Drunkard's ways being an Undead killer and his bloody adventures? I really like where the campaign headed, and if you've played my previous campaign "Deandra's Tale", you would know that Joe has already reached Kalimdor. How should I proceed? (Damn. I think I have writer's block)
Campaign Review

The campaign starts with a good story and setting, which is then forgotten and replaced with additional graphics in later maps.

Joe and his son start in a village in Lordaeron in a magnificent setting and atmosphere. However, they end up in going through an unfitting adventure. Chapter one is the best map. The mundane feel of Joe's village, his son, and his wife is something you see rarely in campaigns. The chapter was throughout wonderful. The second chapter was also good, but then the campaign started to deteriorate to hack'n'slash, and the lovely drunkard Joe and his kid became undead-ass-whopping heroes. What a disappointment. :( The whole feel of the drunkard and his small, everyday problems was gone.

The story lost its edge at this point. The campaign began to drift to "wandering encounters", such as pirates, which were disconnected from anything else. The game became boring monster killing with impressive cinematic sequences in between. But I was interested in the game and the story! And they were given almost no attention! :(

The campaign went downhill starting from Chapter 4 - Silverspoon Seaport. It was rather bad gameplaywise, and there was little story to mention. I almost quitted the campaign in this mission but opted to go on. However, Chapters 5 and 6 weren't any better. I couldn't help thinking that the majority of the effort had gone to graphics and not much thought had given to gameplay and story aspects. Chapter 6 had also several annoyances, such as characters getting stuck on islands when they tried to retrieve items. There were several minor bugs with cinematic skipping (none of the cinematic skips that I tried worked correctly). Furthermore, many places were annoyingly cramped, which didn't help the gameplay.

Custom skins were impressive and they grew better towards the end. But at the same time the story suffered, and I would take Chapter 1 (with no custom skins) any day over the later chapters.

Regardless of its shortcomings, the campaign is one of the best I've played, due to its originality and two first campaign maps. Still, I'd hope that campaign makers would put much more effort into making an interesting and coherent story as well as creating original gameplay aspects.

Detailed Ratings

Gameplay: 3/5

Overall Rating: 4/5
Go ahead Dreac! They're yours by right anyway

stuffkikker - I'm taking the sequel to a slightly different direction... I hope you'll like it! Its sort of in the vain of Resident Evil (at least for the first level)

I agree though with everything you said. I mean, how many campaigns have a main character that simply a dumb drunkard??
It seems, I'm gone have to upload the ship tileset to skins section
The new models and animations kick ass!!! :D
Nice work you guys.
Thanks, we worked long houers makeing this campaign :D
xD

Woohoo, this is da shit!
Excellent stuff. Few bugs here n there (esp. when u try to skip cinematics, ur characters might freeze or special fx wont stop), and its kinda annoying that u loose ur items when getting to a next level and just get some random ones,
but other than that; frikkin great shit! No pretentious deep backgrounds, just silly humor, love it. (The intermezzo with the samples, the dialogue between garithos and kael; laughed my ass off!)
Also loved the whole thing u did with the pirate ships n all. 5 minuts was a bit short to safe yer ship, but real nice done. Last mission, the undead pirate ship part was a bit too short, might have been better if ud just made a new level for it, have soom room too walk around. And for an awesome model like whatshisname (the demon pirate); more!! (But im sure we'll see more of him in the sequel).
Best campaign ive seen yet. More fun than the ones that came with the game itself :D
GREAT MAP!

-Nice Boat Tilesets
-Awesome Skins, Especially drunk Joe
-Good Story Line

5/5!
I loved it. It's perfect length in playablity. Doesn't take too long to finish or it wasen't too short.
Also I loved the custom Tile Skins on the pirate ships.
Really Really good work. The humour was good too.
5/5
Same for me, you can use the models if you want. What are these changes made to sailor Joe? Is that why I had to make a hat (to my great shame I have to admit I haven't played it yet).
Guys, I don't have anything against my skins are ripped off and used elsewhere. Any how, if u are gone use them, plz don't forget to remaind me about your project..

Med, did you chek the bug in 6th level? Well, there n'thing we can do about it now. And BTW, Epilog (7th) is great, I didn't know you were that good with Terrain, I even didn't see the orginal tile set on 7th map. And changes you did to sailor Joe were also nice.
Ah, Dreacon! You're here. Its fine I guess if you folks 'borrow' the models and textures of the campaign... So long as you credit Armel and Dreacon. Armel for the nice models, and Dreacon for the wonderful textures.

SUPA_BUU - My work is done!

Metabee - If you enjoyed this... I suppose you might enjoy Mordork's Quest... Its already finished but I feel as though I should release it in two weeks? I just wanna build anticipation.
yay that cool... can i take the peasant model?
lol the funnieste campaign ive ever played ^^ weird story
Hey Mad_Panda, witch pirate/industrial tile set you mean ? You can ripp it off from the campaign your self. It's unportected ya know..
5/5, excellent campaign.

I would give you a life time supply of cookies if you released that pirate/industrial tile set to the public.
Hey med, we have a serious problem!!! Getting into LeChunk's ship in 6th mission still has that deemed bug. Arghammemnon dies! And there nothing I can do with Timmy! Wallt is still stuck.
i just luv campains with a good challenge a good story sum thin u get so caught up doin u forget u hav a giant canada report worth 40% of ur social studies mark...
The thing i like the most of this campaing is that you create the coolest terrain, and that aircraft thing is so cooooooooool! you should def' be a Mod. oh yeah and 'n idea, if you wna change the air below u(what u c) then you could just use blight and reskin it, cos blight, as you know can be added and removed, just an idea 2 improve ur map.
i love ur campaigns their the best, but... thos dreanda catch joe :?: 5/5
Thanks to all your comments! You have all played the untainted classic Joe's Quest and Deandra's Tale right? The next release for me would be Mordork's Quest which is already complete but still has a few nagging issues.

Cryptile - Joe's Quest is actually my first campaign and this is basically a vastly updated version. Deandra's Tale is my second campaign and sadly, I don't have any plans to update it... Its still good though with or without a makeover. Try it!

Metabee - At the moment, I can't see a pirate battle for my future campaigns, but Joe's Quest II does have a level set in a Goblin Floating fortress-type vehicle. Here is a shot for you folks!

http://www.themappersguild.net/ftp/med.mapguy/Email%20Files/Skyship_01.jpg

I know... Goblin's don't have ships that look like Aircraft carriers but I've been wanting to make a sci-fi campaign for so long... I might as well make the Goblins have that kind of tech!

Chorale - Watch out for Mordork's Quest! It doesn't exactly have the sheer lunacy of this campaign, but I stll think its pretty good. Don't mind the plot holes and inanities on that one though. Its going to be released soon!
moreeeee moreeeeeeeeee moreeeeeeeeeeeee

poorrr joe ! dont worth l'timmy !
Oooh... finally, a sequal to Deandra's Tale (One of the few campaigns on this sight worth downloading). Now if only all the other people with "To Be Continued..."s would finish their work....
I'd just like to say, that this is Great, the best campaign ever, the fact that there isn't any speech(sound) doesn't ruin it at all. this campaign features models skins a great story and alot of humor, one thing never seen before is the pirate ship battle, a battle on an actual pirate ship, i cant rate this thumbs up enuf this deserves a 10/10.
now that joes quest is gold, I have to ask

When does part 2 come?
I've played this campaign before (as well as Deandr's tale), it was very good. I'll see what changes you've done lately in gold edition!

Oh, and you may force "Enable subtitles" for all players from the WE, instead of saying Enable Subtitles
