ok, thanks very much VGsatomi. I didnt want to make it so realistic. Anyway thanks(again) that helps very much.
Well at least you didnt ask that and protect your map at the same time. Sometimes people really amaze me...

Very, VERY nice effect with the river! Some of the hill/mountains are too tall if you plan on having them as normal terrain. if you move a uit up them, they will take up the whole screen. If you make that tall, be sure to put an alternate texture (like rocks) or pathing blockers around it to simulate a mountain. If its just a hill, then lower it. You have too many different trees for it to look realistec. Typically leaves will be in clumps under the trees with the open dirt/grass in patches in the open areas between clumps of trees. Try not to use more then two species of trees, since three or more dont co-habitate very well (at least in real-life). Put the trees in more clumps then even spaced individuals. Large trees typically absorb a lot of ground water and prevent other trees around it from growing, so large trees should be out in the open while smaller ones are clumped together in patches (since seeds fall down, not out). I noticed you used leaves to mark paths between trees and grass to cover the areas with trees. That should be the other way around. I suggest using grass, light or low grass, leaves and dirt as your 4 primary textures, and use rocks for the mountain tops.

You can tell when mappers suddenly decide to put a waterfall in in an area they already terrained- by adding a shot hill out of nowhere that just happens to have a water at the top of it. Typically that looks very unrealistic, unless its lava from a small volcano. Water trickles down moutains and hill and always looks for the shortest rout to the bottom, not follows along a river that magically elevated above the rest of the terrain.

Flowers always grow in clumps away from larger vegitation and fireflies are also usually in groups and hang out near water/puddles. So in the open areas between the trees where you have some grass, put the flowers in patches.

p.s.- thank you for not spelling it "skillz"
I just need you guys to tell me how to improve my terraining skills.
