I'd have to give a 3/5, my view was going everywhere, I was at that merchant, and my view suddenly went where my enemies were looking, then it froze. Yet another problem(you know this already) was that sound problem, turning needs to be alot smoother, I cept pausing and most of the time I could not cast any spells. Other than that, the map was really nice, nice models, sounds, etc.
Yeah, when you overwite sounds using pre-exising file paths, it will replace the same sounds in later games you play. To fix that, simply reboot warcraft 3. -VGsatomi
i thionk it was pretty good, but i noticed that after the game, ther was some kind of merory leak, where when i played another game afterwards the tree chopping sounds were replaced by the sound of lasser an gun fire... i treid 6 other games to make sure it wasn't just me. and same thing happened to all other maps... i had to reboot my pc after.. apart from that.. i think it was pretty good 4/5
I did not expect this type of response from this map. First of all I want to thank VGsatomi for your support. Also Tim, - I Played a little of Battle Of Hoth last night(I never played it before). Those models are indeed Kick-@ss. And the sounds and buttons are superb. (nice website too) I will not pretend to be in your league. When I made this map I was just having fun with the models and explosions(I love explosions). I just wanted to post a map for a change, after downloading hundreds. Anyway, I left the map unprotected so all the new mappers can learn or modify at will-I don't care,I just wanted to share.
Tim...If I awared maps only for custom models and sounds, then yes, your map would have been awarded hands down. However, gameplay was what really brought that map down. I recall writing plenty of comments in Battle of Hoth describing its faults. Try fixing them and I'll reconsider.
Punisher: I awarded this not just because of the imports...Its partially due to gameplay/fun factor and partially because this was the first person to do the space theme to near perfection.
I do agree with RDZ, though. The camera and movement could be smoother. -VGsatomi
I would have to agree, seeing as though my Battle for Hoth never got the Director's Choice and it has similar models and sounds. On top of that I made all the models used in my map myself (Or a fellow project member made them).
Anyway, this map isnt too bad. I wouldn't call it Director's Choice worthy, but a 4/5 is about right.
This is perhaps one of the most interesting maps I've played for a while... Good to see the RDZExplosion in there too! I think, though, the movement system needs a little bit of refining; turning needs to be smoother. But, all in all, very nicely done!
I'm Awarding this map the Director's Choice Award for its outstanding visuals and sound. I liked how you can make it so you can select and control any indivudual in your army and change your view to it. However, I stongly suggesting improving the gameplay some...such as giving some special abilites to the normal units that the players can utilize when they switch to them. There really is not a whole lot of strategy asides from that. Very nice map nonetheless, and quite fun. Good job. -VGsatomi
