This is a High Elven warmage model I made. The concept is a picture by Samwise. Base models are DotT, Kael's portrait, Paladin (book),cristal generator and Jaïna (some anims spell particle emitter) and FarSeer (spell attack particle emitter). Thanks to Oinkerwinkle for providing the tools that made modelling possible for me.I'd recommand you use teal or grey as team color, I think they are the ones that correspond best to the model's spirit.
Im just a stupid noob, right. got it. With that out of the way, upon trying to import this (reading the tutorial many times) The model never shows up. I get his icon, but not the model. I put it WarMage\WarMage\WarMage\WarMage.mdx and it is an un-selectable, invisible unit. What am I doing wrong?
1200000000000 war3 files have those 2 archives, I have been facing such files a lot and they had never brought any problems, i dunno why you keep on arguing about viruses on this model, just download it, get an antivirus and scan it and u`ll see.
about what those 2 things are, i guess it`s really something related to MACs.
Wow, you models populr, long way to scroll to type message, but thats not the point. Those 2 files, the one that dont seem to have any meaning, i dont trust them. And until you can tell me what they are, I advice others no to trust them either.
.ds_store and .macosx are not (or at least shoulnd't be) virus files. they are in no way part of warcraft 3. they are default files installed by the mac osx when a cross-platform directory (cd, zip file, whatever) is created (I'm still not sure why, as they do absolutly nothing that I can tell )
My virus scanner did not detect any threat but i do not trust this model for it contains files that should have nothing to do with is these files include
.Ds_store ._ _Macosx
I strongly advise to be careful downloading this file.
I downloaded the file and for some reason it had 2 folders in it. In the folder it had a strange file called .DS_Store or something like that, it also was in the main file too.
Well, I don't know where the virus could come from but I certainly can't have coded the virus myself or have been aware of it: I am a total noob in informatics. However, I'm pretty good at keeping my comp safe from viruses so in my opinion it is very likely that you got the virus from another source. Since you're the first one to repport the problem while this file has been downloaded by thousands of people, I can only assume that the contamination came from another file you downloaded or that the file got somehow recently corrupted on the wc3sear.ch server where it is hosted. Even if the virus was already in the model when I uploaded it, be sure that it happened without my knowing it.
Evil Awhile back ago i downloaded this model, thinking it was the coolest one i had found so far. however, it was a virus nd majorly destroyed my computer to the point that i needed a new one. i know that it was this model because when i unzipped it the virus activated, also i opened one of the files in wordpad and, sure enough, it was a virus. I would appreciate it if you would not post virus' on the internet, as it ruins the community for the rest of us. I apologize if i got the wrong Warmage file and author, but im pretty sure it was this one, thank you.

No, they aren't. These files are just the indirect result of Darky using a Mac when he reuploaded the files for me. Lord Finarfin, if you like Elven emblems, go to wc3campaign and look at my sig, it contains an emblem I've made for Turgon using the description given in The Book of Lost Tales (poor chap was almost the only Noldor Prince whose emblem had not been created by Tolkien).
Yes, my avatars often change, depending on my mood, and my interests at the time. My last one was the last bride of Dracula, Aleera, from Van Helsing, and before her an elven guard from Lothlorien. It's a pretty good movie(Van Helsing), you should see it. It's not really a horror movie, more like an action movie with some romance, though it does have some horror, it's nothing to bad.(It's not as scary as M. Night Shamalyon's movies, and they aren't very scary)
Anyway, like my new avatar? It's the sign of the house of Finarfin.
Btw, I got those models working.(I hope) Me e-mail suddenly decided to give me access to them...wierd...but anyway, yay for me! If any are good, they get a spot in my campaign!(I haven't looked at them yet) Thanks again!
The elven one was before, he often changes his avatars. And elvish banners aren't scarry at all, I was refering to the Vampire! Haven't seen Hellsing, I'm not such a fan of horror oriented movies (except science-fiction like Alien)

Well, I'm a little busy these days (work + already several requests). So I can't make a model on request, but I can teach you how to use the available programs to make your own models, it's quite easy to learn in quite a short time how to make simple model edits such as geoset mergings... Wanna me to teach you? The import path for the skin is wtitten in the model info just above the comments, like for all models on this site:"Textures\HighElfWarMage.blp". Use the default import path for the model and the portrait.
Elves are essentially non-violent, they don't have the perverted warrior culture humans have. But they are ready to fight fiercely if needed. And some Elves in Tolkien's world seem to like it (perverted Noldor like Feanor, who claims the deeds the Noldor will accomplish will never be forgotten). Those Elves were even ready to slaughter their friends the Teleri to flee Valinor. Even Tolkien's worl is not 100% antiwar, as it is said somewhere that evil can be seen as a way to make the world beautifuller by creating the high values associated with war against evil: courage, strength against adversity... Yet never would an Elf adhere to human values like the ones seen in the film "Troy" for instance: Achilles fighting for glory and not even caring if he is fighting for a good cause.

I don't think I've read about any elves that hate wars....anyway, Armel, about those models you sent me...my e-mail decided to remove access to them...-_-; I'll try to access them again, but I might need you to send them to me again...I'll let you know if I access them or not.
Ah, I was wondering why the avi was different There is one tower with only three versions (the three seen in the RoC undead campaign) and one with an additionnal arcane tower upgrade + an elvish ice tower upgrade, I'd recommend you use this one. The other models are not available for download, cause they are not good enough (they were my first model edits, so they are quite basic yet useful modifications, and since the dl section is already too full of minor edits I didn't put them for download), but they can still be quite usefull, so anyone wanting them can ask me and I'll send them. Do you want to take a look at them?
Then you might find a use for some of the elvish models I have: I have put for download elvish towers that can be built (added a build animation + upgrade anims), and I also have a few modified elven models: Jaina converted to an elf, a few units transformed into heroes (anims, glow, dissipate sound), an elven warrior with a cape, an elvish altar of heroes...
Hehe, all I understood was "Namarie, mellonin", the rest is obscur to me . I've bought a very good "Dictionary of Elven Languages" (only available in French), but I only use it occasionally to create short sentences for flags on drawings. Namarie, mellonin

Lord Finarfin, I tried to learn elvish but I lacked the time (I can do quite good calligraohy however). How do you say "You're wellcome"?
First do you have TFT(the frozen throne)? If you do then open the import manager(it up at the top by the trigger editor). Click the import file button(It's at the top). Click on all the files that you got in the download of the model. Now at the top of this page under number of skins. Textures\HighElfWarMage.blp is in green so it needs to be changed(right now it should say wc3imported\HighElfWarMage or something like that). So double click on that file and click the custom path box and type it in. With all the paths correct, save your map and restart the editor(you have to restart it when doing skins and icons too) go to your map and the model should be there. PM or e-mail me if you have any other questions(or just ask another question here, I check this page occasionally).
Now... [email protected]. I would appreciate it if the file worked with winzip(that's all I got). Thanks Armel!
wow you look like the god of the models but there are still a other problem now i cant import your model also its a RAR data and not a ZIP.... what to do now??

It's not broken for me. Again all you people who have problems to download it, until reuploading bugs are fixed, just leave me your adress and I'll send whatever part you can't dl correctly until uploading works properly again.
Happy to see it worked. Now only thing that needs to be done is Darky has to fix this uploading bug (he said he would soon) so I can fix the dl link at last. PEOPLE, KEEP SENDING ME YOUR ADRESS IF YOU WANT ME TO SEND THE MODEL TO YOU. THANKS.
I think you can set it in the spell's data: change the animation's name to spell and it should work (I hope). If it doesn't I'll change the name to Spell - 1, and then setting the used anim's name to Spell - 1 should work.
This is the best model i have ever seen but there is a little suggestion about the animations When the warmage cast spell, it ALWAYS use the spell channel, do you know how to make it use the spell attack animation?? because i think the spell attack is cooler than the channel one

This is an AWSOME model but I've got a problem. It's cool and all but when I download it, it only comes with the model. I make it Warmage.mdx but it still doesn't load. What the hell is wrong with it
I just tested it, and the link works, but there's only the model, no skin and portrait. I hope Darky will fix them soon, cause I can't host them elsewhere on the web. I've sent it to you noobian.

Rexfist, if you want,I have the _portrait.mdx and the .blp file. I also have a compressed 35 KB version of the skin so that it won't be such a huge size increase in your map.
@ Armel: Confirmed. The stand channel animation is fixed.
Whoops, he must have forgotten the skin. I'm sending it to him with the model right away. Rexfist Malice, credits go to me and Samwise (for concept) only, Oinkerwinkle provided the tools, so he gets thanks for making the model possible, but since he had no part in making the model itself, I guess he'd not agree with being credited.
I only get the model file As in; I don't get any blp files, only the mdx As in; The model doesn't show in the editor As in; WHY THE TORTURE! I WANT THIS MODEL SO BADLY
Oh, I haven't tested this anim in game, I thought I haden't made mistakes with eventobjects. Thanks, I'll fix this (which means you'll have to wait a little more for the link to work again). EDIT: eventobjects fixed and new version sent to Darky, I hope he fixes the link soon. I publicly apologize to all the poor souls who downloaded this model while it still had two tiny bugs, sorry.

Same thing happened to me bout a month ago and I contacted a mod. ...I'm guessing it may not be a quick fix, heheh. You may have to upload anew to get your model working again for now. People only seem to really notice the first page anyway, so that's good I guess. But ya lose all ratings and comments. Sucks.

All I can say is I did the best I could without a professional modeling program, and it was my first skin. I like the model the way it is, proportions are OK to me since it is a Wc3 model (proportions are about as good as in any Wc3 hero model, I checked), so I'll keep it this way. Who is Jay Leno?
This model is not that great in itself, though it does have a lot of potential. With a little editing, it can be very useful. Here is my criticism:
The head is what degrades this model most. It's not proportionate with the body and the face is a little too chubby. The Jay Leno chin also subtracts from the quality. The head shouldn't be so upright, either, it makes him look too much like a soldier and less like a mage. The legs are also unproportionate and should be thinned up just a little. The shoulderpads don't go too well with the model/skin and should either be removed or reskinned. I give it 3/5.
SLIGHTLY UPDATED VERSION! I have been signalled a slight problem in the model. So slight I had not noticed it (in the stand animation the head wasn't looking straight on). But still that was a problem, so here is a version in which he is now looking in the right (I mean "correct") direction.
Well Lady_Shadow, a female one would be hard to do, plus I have a lot of work. But if you find someone who can make it, I allow him to modify my model.

Troll form? Well, I give you permissioon to ask for someone to make a geomerge of a troll head on him, but sorry I have already a lot of work to do (you can't imagine how much. My own models are almost done by I have requests froms several people, including another version of this model for Heart of Storms!)

AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! That's awesome!!!!!!! Especially the staff! Just two things that could be improved. The skirt thingy doesn't go all the way around in Sammy's art, there's just a strip of cloth like on the priest. Also it's hair is kinda big... But still very good. 5/5
mmm... concerning I only do mdl editing converting this geoset that uses alpha layers for transparency would be quite hard. Besides, I prefer him that way (I like blue+purple), I added a glow on each weapon so teamcolor is easier to see. And lastly, since he is first supposed to be a hero in a campaign, I don't think he'll be easilly confused with another unit.
I really loved that concept, so I just had to make it live! It's a main hero in my campaign, but why would I keep it for myself (especially since my campaign is going very slow). You'll notice he is a little high poly, well I did my best (I can only mdl edit) and I don't think it maters so much since he is a hero. BTW it's my first skin and my first so ambitious model.
