Here is the Staff of the WarMage model I've made (can be found in the dl section) as an attachment, as several people have requested it. CAUTION!: I haven't tested it yet and it's my first attachment model ever, so there might be bugs, but I think it should work.
The bedspread where the page breaks. Who is having and well! the song which is? If it will be and to send with my mail [email protected], truth it will thank.
I've found out why it had such a high polycount, it seems that several faces had been duplicated by the mdl tools I used to make this model. I had also made another mistake (with vertexgroups) so that parts of the model didn't attach correctly when the staff was attached to a model. All this is fixed now, but since models can't be reuploaded on this site, if by chance someone wanted me to send him the model then just give me your email and I'll send it.
No no I removed all the unnecessary geosets and vertices and copied the remaining geometry to a basic attachment model structure (bone, ...) so I guess this can't be made smaller, except by making the model, and especially the cristals, less detailed (they could use it actually, they are quite high poly since they are reduced versions of the cristals of the magic generator doodad... but when I did this I would never have been able to make them smaller).
wow you guys are uber noobs if you still use triggers to attach weapons... ... all you need to do is use buffs to attach them its way easer and less time consuming.. use the immolition buff copy it and change the attachment points to left hand or right hand etc.. then put the buff on a copyed version of immolition except make sure the spell does no damage and its for items.. then put the spell on the item that the weapon or whatever.. thats alot easer then using variables and shit..
To put it on a model, use a trigger that has the following action: attach special effect (the staff model) to a unit's (the unit you're gonna attach it to) hand right (or left). The action is in the special effect actions list I think.
What do you mean? What's a geo-reskin? The weapon is a highly modified DotT staff with the spirals made from scratch and the cristals taken from the cristal generator model. It's one of the reasons the highmage is high poly, but well, I removed so many geosets from the base model (DotT) that I think this model was higher poly than mine. And since the warmage is gonna be used with close views in a cinematic + he is a hero, being high poly is not too much of a problem. Yeah, if you want you can delete in the texture all that is not needed by the warmpage, saves space (basically, you'll have to remove everything except the parts corresponding to the DotT's staff).
The texture for the war mage could be cropped a bit... Wasn't the war mage a geo-reskin and the weapon from an existing or something? Otherwise, it would be good to have the War Mage and this in the same map
Woah...is this what made the warmage model such a big file size...? I don't think I can use this on any multiplayer maps...but maybe it's ok on single player campaigns...
No, I checked, everything is normal. Well, people wanted it the way it is on the model and it is quite high poly for an attacgment (not just a stick + a plane using an alphaed-out texture like so many weapons). Sorry, this can't be helped.
Wow a Staff weapon model its 420.7k ? woW bigger than Seph and Cloud models ,,,,how come its so big ?,,im not good at modelin but i saw in other models only 10k to 50k max ,,,,,hmmm weird !
