Doom 3, worth to buy?

Somehow I just heard my friend said that it's only good in single player. In multi-player, you can only up to 4 plaers in a server.

Only if you have a computer thats actually strong enouph to give it justice. If its the kind where you have to have everything on the lowest settings to play, then don't bother. And yes, doom 3's single player mode is its selling point. If you want good multiplayer FPS, get Unreal Tournement 2004.

Doom3, well, to me, the single player is boring. The monsters are incredibly stupid, their AI is just script based. Example: You stand in front of a door, you open it and an Imp pounces on you... you open the next door... and an Imp pounces on you. You open another door... surprise, an Imp (which pounces on you, to be exact). Scary, eh?

And the multiplayer part, well, all you need is a fast computer, then you can play on a few maps with a few players. Not bad, but definitely not good.

There are definetely much better FPS games out there than Doom 3...

I personally think Battlefield 1942 is the best FPS out there.
mostly because of the fact not only that u can be a sniper,engineer, assult,medic, or anti-tak, but u can also man many vehicles like planes, bombers, jeeps,tanks, ships, subs, carriers, and so on

Yes, BF1942 is a damn good game, but Doom³ and UT2k4 deliver simple action, without classes and (in Deathmatch) a minimum of tactics. That's what makes UT2k4 that awesome.

Btw, can't wait for BF2, tho.

1. Half Life <-- just an awesomly fun game
2. Far Cry <-- this game has incredible AI
3. Battlefield <-- great multiplayer game
4. Doom <-- great graphx n campaign, thats all there is
5. Unreal Tornament 2005 <-- cool weapons

So, overall, i would say to use your money on a different FPS, either bf1942 or ut2005 if u like huge online games (if u dun no which to choose between think u want world war 2 or future?).
But, if ur into the horror then go 4 doom

In my opinion, Doom 3 is a very cool game, i think i'll buy Resurection of Evil, but i definetly prefer Far Cry, which is original and beatiul : sometimes, i'ld like to throw my rifle to dive in the turqoises waters : http://www.kfj.f2s.com/far-cry-3.jpg or http://www.kfj.f2s.com/far-cry-1.jpg.

HARDWARE TIPS :
I get my hardware for less than 500€ (1€ = 1$ in my mind^^) and i can run doom3 with almost all graphics options at "high" and far cry in hi-res with ALL at "very high" or "ultra". Here it is :
Proc. : ATHLON 64 bits 3000+
Video Card : nVIDIA GeForce 6600 128mb PCI slot
Ram : Dual 512k
MotherBoard : sorry i dun remember, but check if it have a PCI slot !!!!
