Recently I was looking over the forum and I noticed that there was a lot of lond dead topics clutering up the forum. I was wondering if there is a way someone could end these topics.
They are dead. The only reason why they're all the way back there is because new topics are being made. You know a topic is dead if there has been no other post on it for five days. Otherwise, posting beyond is considered thread necromancy, which results in a warning.
let me just sumerize what you mean. Are you saying that the dead topics are to be left in a ditch to lay in waste untill they are revived?
*question if awnswer is yes*
I have to admit that some topics will be revived from time to time but what I don't understand why you don't have a cut off point for a dead topic, i.e. bury it after no one has replyed after a couple of months or even a seasonal refresher for the forum.
Certain threads can be ressurected, and only if you post something useful in them.
For example: the "introduce your fellow gamers" thread, where every member posts a little bio of themsevles. Stuff like that is fine.
But, say, there's a thread where someone asks a question, its already been answered, you revive the topic posting yet another iteration of the same answer, thats bad, since that wasnt needed, useful, or good for anything other then raising your post count.
Useful thread revival and usless thread necromancy is often sperated by a very thin line, though. Just think before you post. Thats all we ask.
It would be useful too clean the forums of those endless pages of dead topics, but the loss of post counts would dissapoint most, if not all, users. -VGsatomi
