can anybody tell me how to make attachment points?

can anybody tell me how to make attachment points?

i have a model, i was just wondering how i add attachment points to it. im using gmax, but most of the help ive had was from somebody using 3ds, and it was accurate. so if anybody that knows could help me out, thanks.

do i use bones?
and rename them?

I'm pretty sure you can't just use Gmax for them

With the whole having to go and do hand mdl editing

well, are there any free programs that will help me to add them?

i tried that, but his tool bar dosent look like mine, so i got lost. i couldnt find the buttons.

Go to the Create Panel and click on Helpers, then points. I'm not sure if this is the correct way to get to them because I don't have gmax on this computer, so I can't check. (and I'm a gmax noob too )

do i have to name them or something/
