is there a trigger which counts the number of corpses in an area? (e.g. in the area of ability cast)

Well... I think you can count the number of dead units. You can Pick up every unit matching condition (Unit is Dead equal to true).

Pick every laggs take better a Integer and set it too Count Units in Unit Group - As Unit group (it can be an Region of Point) u select the Point whos counting and take by taking the Point All Units in Range with Condition and take as condition, the Unit is death. i hope i helped u
