map making question

Is there any way i can use a MPQ file with me map or campaign?
#2
im not really used to that but arent there enough tools in tool section for that? :?
#3
thats not what i was asking. I'm talking about adding all the files(blp, mdx, music) into a MPQ file that is linked to my campaign but the mpq is external.
#4
Not sure i understood that but let me give it a shot:

You cannot link up externals, you must import your music, or have an outside program pulling the strings (bad idea :P).

Not sure if thats what you asked though :P.

An external mpq file would only be needed if you are making a mod. Asides from that, the import archives for both maps and campaigns are mpq files in themselves. WHat exactly are you trying to accomplish by using an external file? Players will still need the materials loaded into the map if you want them to work, again, unless it is a mod.

well i have so many files needed for my campaign that the file size of the campaign with no missions and just the music so far imported is about 200 MB
#7
200 MB LOL? The best record i've seen was 52MB that's very heavy download.

hey putting like 200mb is a nice try but guess what i was trying to put world of warcraft (the real game with pirvate server) on the map which is about 4GB and it wont even go in
if it will work many ppl can dl it and see how suky is WOW which i dont like it at all
but it will save ppl money for the game. just leaving the comp over night and it will be someones dream come true :D it was my dream before but when i played it,it turned to a nightmare

I think even Return of The Dragons wasn't more than 200 MB in size...

Erm...

Try splitting your campaign into many parts?

All that with no custom voices? All that mostly music? Your campaign might as well be a minature Napster...

You need to prioritize...go ever everything and ask yourself "do I really need this?" Find music you can double up on scenes rather then have something new around every corner.

And ROTD was just shy of 100 megs, not including the extras that came with it. My own campaign was 60.
