I couldent care less if this site has any eligal WoW models, icons or not.

Also I really dont see why using WoW models would hurt blizzard in any way or their income on WoW? People playing WoW aint gonna quit WoW just because the models are used in some Warcraft 3 map.

That really does not matter - what you *think* is not what we're bothered about.

IMO:

Good porting (optimising, removing unneeded anims, making texture fit more to the engine, etc..)= fine

bad porting (just downright converting x to y
) = meh

As long as there is no official word yet from Blizzard regarding this issue specifically, it should be tolerated (for now).

Though one thing should be asked, is it practical for most of the maps in progres out here?...

I did port a lot of useful and smaller models - such as the beasts, pets, etc. They are ideal for maps.

The rest, obviously, are only useful (if at all) for mods/campaigns.

I have begun editing the dragon :)

Well, given the fact they received quite a number of downloads during their time up, people obviously found them useful. Whether they put them in a map or not is another thing. Among the maps in our archive, there is suprisingly few that actually use the imports posted here or anywhere else...I guess traditional is still the way to go.

That's utter bollocks.

Any idiot can download an 8mb Dragon and drool over it. Will it be useful? No. Will they do anything with it? No.

This is a leech site. People take stuff, and rarely give.

One guy actually commented 'I downloaded it to look at it, but deleted it because I can't use it' - This sums up the situation completely.

If someone actually uses any of these obesely large models in a map, its obviously that bad a map that it needs something to distract you from the shoddy workmanship.

Brett.D
I want to know if I'm allowed using sounds from other blizzard games.

Yes, you can use any sound/music from a Blizzard game.

This is a quote of Brett.D, a Blizzard representitive, he posted a response in regards to the cinematic contest.
So... this means you can use any Blizzard made resource in your maps.

The posting of WoW models is fine. Topic closed.

@cookies: long time no see, and welcome back. Feel free to work your magic.
