Bob27's Map Making Contest

I thought it might be intristing to make a map making contest. The contest will have different catorgores, Cinematic, Campaign, Aeron of Strife, Tower Defence, Minigames, RPG, melee and other. Ok here are the rules:

  • Each person can enter one map in each catergory
  • Any map that has just been edited and was made by someone else will not be accepted
  • The Map must be made from scratch
  • There is no limit to map size or file size
  • Cinematics will have no time limit
  • Campaigns must have more then one mission
  • WEU will be accepted but you must tell me if you use it.
  • The map must be unprotected. If I can not open the map it will not be excepted.
  • If it is a multiplayer map you can send me a unprotected and protected version. They must be exactly the same.
  • The deadline will be one month. Extendtions can and will be given to any contestants still making their map after the 1 month deadline however this will not apply if it is the contestants 2nd or more map they are entering in the contest.
  • The Map must have at least 3 players unless it is a campaign, cinematic or any other singleplayer mission. If you have any other reason for it having only 2 players contact me and I might be able to enter your map into the contest.
  • Nothing that would break the lisence agreement you have to agree to register at Hive Workshop.
  • At the main page of the contest at Hive Workshop about the third post down there are some guidelines. This explains what the Jury will be looking for basicly in a map and it is recomended that you follow these guidlines.

More info, the guildelines for each catergory and entries can be directed to Here

Note: All contestants and Jury members must have an account at Hive Workshop

Two inconsistancies I've found so far: at Anvil you mentioned a 2 month deadline and at Hive you mentioned a 1 month deadline? And in the rules you meanioned one entry per applicant, but I see one mapper is already in 3 catagories.

It was one per catergory. For example someone could have a map in Melee and Cinematic, but could not have 2 in cinematic. And as for the deadline it was originaly 1 month but I decided to make it 2. OK this is really starting to get annoying all this rule changing but itis bak to 1 month and it is staying that way.

Okay, so 1 month now....thats reasonable. But I understand that maps must be made from scratch from AFTER the start of the contest? Or how does that work? Because if people plan on making multiple maps, especially on top pf campaigns, then 1 month would be really pushing it. I ask this because I have an RPG that I started about 2 weeks ago and will be finishing hopefully sometime this week, to submut along with the other map I stared yesterday. I was wondering if that would be valid or not.

Well this deadline is really pushing it because at Hive Workshop I made a poll asking if its one or two months and everyone voted two months! So i've made it when the one month is up there can be an extendtion for that certain catergory. As for that RPG I was thinking about that. Well as i've already let a map thats already been started in I supose you can join the RPG catergory as well. You want me to sign your RPG up?

Yes, please. It will be called "Inu Yasha- Taisetsu na Hito".

Also, how do you want the maps managed? You asked for them to be sent to you email...so does that mean first before they are submitted to the public? Or do you not want them to go public before the end of the contest (i.e. how blizz did with their contest)?

And also, did you have winrar? Both my maps will be rather large....too large to email in 1 piece.

Ok as for the releasing in public i'll make it when the entries close for that map's catergory. If I find a contestants map anywhere before I have it I they will not be excepted. As for the email you can use this site:

I've never used it to send an email before but the limit is 2 gigabytes so i'm sure your map isn't that big.
