Quest help for an rpg

How do you make quests where when a boss dies it drops a item you take it to the quest giver and he gives you a key then you use the key to open the gate to get to the next quest?

k so can someone tell me how to make a quest where the quest giver tells what the quest is about like go kill 10 kobolds or whatever

Just check one of Blizzards custom/campaign-maps (should explain it the best). This is really basic stuff.
