That is correct, and the lack of freedom of speech nullifies any expressed differences. The fact that they can't say how they feel towards their government only gives one impression, and that is what the government leaves.Yes, the governemnt controls media and even internet. That leaves ample oppurtunity for multiple misconceptions. In that way, the people of the communist government are tained in the wrong way, but that isn't to say that they are uninformed of their own government.
Many Chinese people are hardcore on studying; I'm sure some of them can quietly apply their knowledge to current events. They just can't say anything about it.
