Modelling program

I would like to see which program is the most used by people on this site.
#2
I only use vertex modifier for modeling.
#3
Milkshape for the win!

You did those dinosaur and starwars models only with vertex modifier? And how did you the animations?

Btw, I don't like vertex modifier. Once I opened a model with it, but it wasn't similar to anything.

Is the Milkshape importer better and less buggy than gmax's?
#6
The milkshape importer does flawless geometry.

The milkshape exporter does consume animations from time to time, but some skilled practices can solve the problems.
#7
So the Milkshape importer is better? Because if I import an existing model in gmax, the animations are totally different and also the bones become smaller. And, of course, if I export that model without changes, the animations are diferent than model before importing. And there are also some other bugs. Do you experience this kind of bugs also Milkshape importer/exporter?
#8
When I said the importer does flawless geometry, I mean that it does nothing else. No skeleton, no animations.

But if model editing is your game, the Oinkertools are where it's at. Or I know a procedure for adding new models onto old skeletons with Milkshape.

Suffice to say - it is nigh-on impossible to get animations out of an MDX. Go for the Oinkertools.
#9
Yes, but with oinkertools you can't make new animations. It only transfer the animations from existing model.

No one uses Blender?
#10
I use Oinkerwinkle's tools. But I would like to find somthing that allows for better animations. Or atleast help with one I already got. I cant afford 3dsmax and I cant animate well, scratch that, I cant animate period in gmax.

Me too. :)

Milkshape is a old...old... modeling program. i use gmax and never had trouble with it even when making warcraft 3 models. plus you got alot more textur options and creating objects and optimizing never been easer with gmax.

bye the way how is that Operation Twighlight going anyways?

XlightscreenMilkshape is a old...old... modeling program.

However, it is still under active development. GMax is overcomplicated and is now gone, far as I know. Milkshape is much better for the new modeller to get a handle on the concepts and is, in my view, far more logical in its manipulation of models.

gmax is overcomplicated becuase people can't find tutorails for it and it is supported by a 3rd party site called turbosquid now. and they even now are adding to gmax. But then again there all about the same i gess i just like it becuase of the easy modfiers like optimize that you can use. But i have used milkshape it was one the first 3dmodeling tools i used i remeber the first model i made was a big ball with teeth for half-life.

I'm using Magos Wc3 Model Editor for modelling, though it doesn't let me do models in scratch. But it's okay, because with the functions you get there, you can create very good ideas for a modified model.
