how do u get a picture for where the minmap should be. I'm trying to help someone but i dont really know.

arent there multiple threads asking this same thing...try searching the forums for "minimap" im 100% positive ull find your answer

Image must be 256x256 and .tga > Import Image into your map > Change image path to war3mapPreview.tga > You now have a custom minimap.
