Peer Guardian just doesnt protect you from the feds but from the spyware and adds you may download from p2p and normal site searching. It also prevents hackers from getting into your ports and stops the sending and communication of spyware.
(Iv met alot of fualty p2p programs and i got my ass kicked with viruses)

Also due to IP detection in programs, like torrents which show your peers or (other downloaders) and seeders. Its as easy as them logging into that torrent and recording down the IP addresses and calling the ISP. Bing bang boom, your being fined.
Also, everytime you start max it has a hidden procces which sends a singal to home to verify its key, i had zonealarm on and it blocked the signal and jibberesh was showing on my comp awhile ago and a warning come up on my computer.
A thing is to steal a game or a program that your you can be allowed, like Warcraft 3, but another thing is to steal a program that already nobody sells and that is valued in 3000$
