Easy Way To Remove Weapons.

Just a quick modelling question that any modeller will hopefully be able to answer.

I was just wondering what the easiest way to remove a weapon from a model. I want to be able to remove weapons so that I can use my own weapon models in game as attachments. I use the warcraft 3 model editor off this site but when I hold control and select the weapon (like how you would remove a hero glow) but it selects the whole unit as one (if that makes sence).
