How I can make flame animation?

Hi evrybody. I want to make fire animation whit 3d max 4 but there is no tutorials in the program.If someone know how to make it and share his expiriance I will be greatful.

By "Flame animation" are you refering to things like the flame doodad?

Because they're just particle emitters. By-hand funtime!

Well I want to make some fire.For example when my unit move his hand the hand must burn for some seconds.
