I've been asking for models for quiet some time now and I really feel sorry for doing so, but I just suck in it I mostly requested World of Warcraft models, especially character models with appropiate armor and such but I never really received it. I understand that people don't like to work very hard for just someone who needs something, so I ask you for 1 last little pitty of favour.
For the last weeks I've been searching wc3sear and the web for information about how to extract World of Warcraft CHARACTER models to warcraft 3 TFT. I read Crazynutter's tutorial but I had some problems understanding a couple of points in his tutorial. (like the point where you need to make files from MDX to BLP and such, didn't got the clue, and couldn't find any information about it. So I ask one of you, mecheon, crazynutter, whitefox, ANYONE, to give me 1 tutorial where ewvery thing is SOO clear that even a uber noob in modelling (like me) can understand it. And please tell me I can do it without having the need of photoshop or something Since I don't got that please say I can do it with paint or something
PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE, thank you!!!!!
I know it takes hell a lot of time to extract character models from the game to here but if you can give such a damnd clear tutorial for me and other modelling noobs, I and propably most others will finally stop begging for damnd models
I know this really sounds pathetic but it's cool to have those models with the appropiate armor and weapons
Eh, I don't write tutorials that are "Easy to understand". I write tutorials halfway between agressive and very agressive
Anywho, the conversion process is hell. For this, I tend to imploy the services of
MdlVis MyWarcraftStudio
MyWarcraftStudio has a "Save as TGA" button when selecting a texture, which makes that easy
As for models, open MdlVis, click roughly where "Open" should be and open the file to be converted. Ignore the error message and then click to where Save As should be. This'll let you chose what to convert it to, which should be mdl
You should know where to go from there
However, character models will be the epitomy of hell and I question if you'll be able to properly convert them without other programs
poor me still no straight answer, I knew how to do but when you need to turn the skin insome programme i lost it, aswell as afterwards making it from .MDX to some other sort

model files are .mdx texture files (skins) are .blp
so if you're making a texture, make a .jpg (or .tga), and convert it into .blp (check tools section). then, convert .mdx to .mdl. Open the mdl with notepad, and somewhere at the top of it, there's a part where you can change textureparts. change the texturepath in example: textures/texture.blp convert back to .mdx
open WE, import both the .mdx and the .blp, and change the path of the .blp into textures/texture.blp (or any other specified path)
ok, eh i worked with crazynutter's tutorial it goes quiet well now, but from the tricky part things go wrong :S like i dont see any animations and the geoset stuff is strange too, it's unclear to me
P.S. when I want to convert the file to .mdx they say something like unexpected token and then some sign
