im not really a regular, but i can spend several hours criticing icons, and that huge wave of blatant recolors and horrible images pasted and then covered with a border ( most of them comes from anime-related topics (hamtaru, sephiroth ( those were on the first page, that's why they're the only one i show here)). most of these icons don't have a disbtn version, nor a dispasbtn if needed.
it's not that no one would want it, it's that everyone can do it. it's like releashing a tutorial how to open up war3editor.
shouldn't there be a minumum amount of quality?
there are relativly few of them, but they're very noticable, those cnps or recolors pops up from refinated icons.
Even thought many of those icons are recolors...many of them are assigned icons to models or skins. (for example: those cloud and sephiroth icons) Deleting them may take away from the completeness of someone's model, which in my opinion would be a bad thing. I've already seen that happen a lot. -VGsatomi
recoloring and alikes are a great lack of beauty, awesomeness, creativity, originality. everyone would rather pick a good freehanded icon rather than a simple recolored icon..
Shrinrokon have recently submitted a lot of ff icons that were all cnped... i won't download them like told, but it just screws up the pleasure of navigating and criticing decent icons. 75% of the icons i review are an incredible lack of effort, while 25% are freehanded more than 50%. it's in this year to do that kind of atrocity.
in another way, they might be happy, and me not ( that's what everyone wants X_X )

Omg, there gotta be a filter, like at newgrounds, where a icon gotta reach a certain score to stay alive x_x..
that's only the files i sniped from the 1-10 pages i viewed.. many crappy icons ( and skins ) and this rule that you will get banned if you vote 1's on contents, this place be the ideal place for horrible icons
if one do a crappy recolor it's probably attached to the fact that hes making a crappy spell/unit/wathever, indeed they're attached together. for instance, a immolation recolored... purple might be a spell that have a different immolation gfx. or if one do a blue peon icon, it may be for the blue peon he recolored. if you delete a horrible icon, and its attached to another content, it shouldnt be that much worries anyway
Well, to early a little more credibility on your part, why don't you submit a few iconss yourself to sort of "show them how its done." Freehanding isnt exactly easy, and taking criticism about rescourses from those who don't have any, it may make people think less of your opinion...because anyone can criticize, but not everyone can set the example. -VGsatomi

i never said i downloader them, but when i am searching for good icons on the newest submited page. i only rate the newest icons, and 70% of the newest icons are pure crap.

those people who do recolors and horrible icons shouldnt even submit them, there are new rules against those, but i am sure they aren't harsh enough. if you don't know how to draw, don't send your drawing. if you don't know how to smith, don't sell your swords, pratice yourself until you are good. think about other people, they like to see quality work.

wc3sear is not a place of real professional skinners/modellers/mappers, its a resource site with forums.
Sure some quality of icons are not good, but you don't have to grass about it. As long as it is not that bad and some constructive critism is given to the iconer, he/she may update it and it may be better.
yea, sopho is right. its unnessicary because even if that person gets better, but you delete their icons, they wont submit them because they figure that it will just get deleted.
