Why only .blp files?

I was just wondering, if you want to add icons for download to this site, how come you have to use .blp files, and tga's aren't allowed? :?

Hi

1. .blp are files are unique and only support wc3 related tools/programs.

2. They are much smaller than .tga - the other high quality image format that WE supports. which is very important.

3. .tga aren't allowed but could be in the future. As I said, .tga files are much bigger than .blp and Darky (the admin) doesn't like that.

Okay

Oh, thanks for answering... :?

Also, only .blp files are recognized in the editor. If someone would submit a .tga you would have to convert it to .blp yourself, and then there would be alot of angry newbs

Well, .tga is still supported in WE in some cases.

The editor recognizes targas as far as icons go because they don't need to wrap to anything. They're just flat images. But they're usually about 3-4 times the filesize of .blp files. If you're too lazy to convert it to a .blp then don't upload it.
