Removing Alpha Channels

Okay. I see all kinds of posts about people wondering how to add alpha channels. But could somebody PLZ TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE THEM???? I'm using the GIMP, but it shouldnt be that tough. Just tell me how you would basically do it with any other program. I'll figure it out from there.

Thx.

You can remove alpha channels by converting the .tga to 24bits. All alpha channels will then be erased. Irfanview can " re-convert " the .tga to 24bits.

Thank you. The GIMP can do that as well, I just have to re-save it. After I'm done, should I make it back into 32 bits?

No problem.
Uh oh, once the .tga is 24bits, theres no way of getting the alpha channels back :/ You won't get the alpha channels back even if you convert the skin back to 32bits because they've been erased already.
Make sure you have a copy/backup of your skin before doing converting it to 24bits.

I can make make new alpha channels np, but should I convert it back? To 32 bits? and will the old alpha channels still show up as transarencies?
#6
No, I don't think you should.

Okay, thx. The skin doesnt really need the Alpha channels anyway, they're small and inconspicuous. Thx.
