Need help attaching skin to model

so far i have the skin and model completed and they look good in milkshape and gmax. only problem is i cant get the right path for the .mdl to use the skin.

anyone have any advice?

opne the mdl in notepad, then find the textures names textures\(insert name here).blp, then rename that to whatever your skin file name is.
#3
ive already tried that and it didnt do anything except make it silver like it didnt have a skin attached.

test if the skin is corrupt then, remap the textures in the wc3viewer; open the model, do ctrl+m, click on the texture it is using and click on change, then select the blp you want to give it. if it says invalid value, the skin is corrupt. if the skin's corrupt, get an already existing wc3 skin, and cnp you skin over everything, that should work. either that or the skin isnt in the same folder as the model.

could i get more specific instructions on how to do that? i have milkshape, gmax, and vertex modifier if that help in getting specific instructions for one of those programs.

?? i didnt really get what your saying there. all im saying is that perhaps something is wrong with the skin you gave it, and not the model, thats why the skin isnt working.
#7
sorry about that after you edited the message i understood what you were saying and am trying that now.

well i got a new problem... in the warcraft 3 viewer im not seeing my model when i load it.
#9
did you convert it to an mdx first?
well thats not good, how did you test to see the model in the first place?
#10
yes i did since it can't import .mdl

edit: also see if all the meshs are turned on.

i was using vertexmodify and milkshape. it showed up in all of them. and it also worked in gmax.
#13
well, check if all the meshs are turned on and try viewing one of its animtions, if you still cant see it, then i dont know what to do, try asking sansui, he's an excellent modeler.

im just not seeing the option where you turn on/off the meshes. or any mesh options at all for that matter.

ok i found out the little problem i had. when i deactivated the skin to the model the model appeared so i think the skin is corrupt. later today ill try and fix the skin.
