At least should be off-topic, or at least discussed in chat or PM than leave a telltale scar of something that said, "No, we aren't going to change that account name."

That's not the point. You aren't supposed to change your account name for a reason. It would be your problem if you chose a bad name. Darky changes his because it matches his age
