how do i extract a model and put it back in so i have a new model i can throw skins on. basicly i want it so i can have more guys on my map

WinMPQ will do the trick for 'ya. Just open the warcraft .mpq archives and extract away. If you have war3viewer, it has a built-in mpq ability, so you can do it there, too.
