I was wondering what makes a tower defence great what makes it origional what makes it stand out from other maps i myselve have started on making one and i need some ideas for towers and other crap like that
Things like unique units, a good layout, something out of mauls and skibi, and most importantly, balance. It ticks me off to see only one person get the kills in bosses or have bosses with insane levels of hp. Just use some models from this site as well, and keep the size low

things that make maps unique is that it has things no other map has, so we can't really tell you. here's my ideas
1) make it fun for single player too.
2) make it so that players can do damage to each other as well.
Weeniedogwell yes i am still working on ul but i havnt gotten a new asignment for a couple of weeks now but lets continieu this on wc3campaigns
i have soo many asssingments, with frost and slith (on a vacation, frost by the way logged on today and didn't post) gone i have assigned some of slith's ideas, mostly undead terrain, i'll pm you.

well.. the best tower defences: 1) have balanced heroes, towers and creeps. 2) are challenging: no point in games which are too easy/too difficult 3) have heroes, which don't neccessarily need to be super original.
If you're including custom modles in your map, dont have too many, and dont include them where you don't need them. Any custom abilities need to be balanced, also very self-explanitory.
Umm. I can't tell you an original idea, because then it wouldn't be original. Maybe have a custom techtree which branches out, so that you can research one of 4 upgrades, which lets u in turn research one of 4... until there are lots of different possible combinations of towers you can build, and no two people are the same maybe
