What Programs Do I Need?

I want to start modeling but I don't know what programs I need. Help me please.

Grrrr....I know this post is a little outdated, but here you go:

If you want a free modelling program, you should probably go to http://discreet.com/ to the products section and download G-max. You can register for a free Gmax registration code at Turbosquid.com...

After you've downloaded Gmax, go to the tools section of Wc3sear.ch and download what's called: "Gmax Modelling Pack". It has all the tools you need for converting .gmax files to .mdl or .mdx files.
