what you can do is take a regular, non-hero unit and then change the model. The glow i think is under the custom unit junk, and i dont know how to change it.

the hero glow is part of the model, what you could do though is use the bandit mage model. You know the creep ones in dalaran and cityscape? I think the model is called <Apprentice Wizard, Chaplain, Emmissary>
