Help fixing up a map

After almost 6 months of editing, i f***ed up my map. I was wondering if there is a way to fix a map where level info is missing.

The tooltips disappeared?

I was testing my map when my mouse all-of-the-sudden shut down so i manually used the keyboard to save my progress but i turned off the computer before it had finished saving. As a result, not all of the info was recorded and it won't open as a result. I can't even open it in Win wpq.

I had a backup map which wasn't too far back, but i'm wondering if i can recover the map, or at least salvage some stuff.

No, what you are describing is absolute worst case scenerio. There is no recovery at that point. Stopping in the middle of a save is guarenteed to destroy a map. Pat yourself on the back that you saved a backup in case of events like these. Every smart mapper should do that.

I agree w/ VG! The first commandment for every map makers should be; MAKE BACKUPS so that in case of brownouts/blackouts you will not find yourself in a big trouble.

Luckily i hadn't worked on the map for a LONG time so there wasn't much extra to fix up. It's pretty much back to where it was before, minus 1 skill that i decided to scrap. I'm making a backup for this one now though but man, that almost killed me when I saw the error, because this is the THIRD time i've done this... ( the time before i had to completely redo it from almost scratch and the other othet time, i just gave up for a while)

However, one thing i found to be a bonus; i improved the skills that i had missed so now they run a little bit smoother than before.
