Official Melee Map Contest

ok Im out. i got too much other stuff to do right now. good luck all.

how can you tell in the WE if a map is officialy a melee map or not, I really tried hard to make sure I didn't break any of the rules. I didn't even use regions and weather effects because I thought that might be considered alteration =(. I did nothing to alter gameplay whatsoever. Any feedback on this would be appreciated, I worked hard on the map and was really excited about the contest, now im just kinda bummed out .

Is Fog not allowed?
Is the sky not allowed to be changed?
Are we not allowed to tint water?

in lower right corner, it says Malee map: yes or no

Why was his question, and mine also. Mine was removed and I have no idea why. I changed nothing that broke the rules, all I did was edit the weather and teams so it was 4 on 4.

oh i see it now... thanks, it was because "one or more start locations were in invalid positions" and because "masked areas are not visable" in map options . I tested the game with 7 comps, and all the start positions worked, so i thought they were fine, but i guess you have the have the lil building shadow visable, and that other mask option is compeltely useless, I just had some masked areas around the edges of just blank terrain, so I thought might as well not make is visable.

i've just gone trought and checked if they are malee, if not, they are OUT, anyway the contest ends tomorrow, so there is actually no reason to fight about it.

contest ends tomorrow? i didn't see any due date anouncements, oy, i must be out of the loop, i checked the forums everyday to check for due dates.

no the contest doesn't end, the site ends, its shutting down, no money, no site.

Oh my God. I still cant belive it. Argh.
If i had to choose one of the maps, i would choose (2)City of Chadston

Whew! Vacationing sucks! Well I'm back and i noticed that my map has been added to the list!!! Thx oz02!

Elf... I think you terribly mistaken some of these maps.... There is NOTHING in my map that violates the rules, in fact I now know WHY it says mine isn't a melee. I talked with a blizzard rep about that certain part of the WE, and he said that it does not check for validitidy after a certain number of saves. That map was one I finished about a month ago and had many changes, it was 2,100kb in size. I removed ALL of that for this contest, but it had had over 5,000 WE saves. According to blizzard, after this marker the script no longer works for whatever reason. I now ask that you reinstate my map, whether the contest is over or not. Also, there might be a few more effected by this, I only know about myself though.

I tried to talk to oz about the disqualification of my map but he doesn't/hasn't yet respond/ed. Everyone here can have a look at http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Maps&ID=4227 , I cannot find ANY reason why it doesn't match the contest's participation criteria! If you find one, please notify me, this is ugly,

[Edit: oz wasn't responsible for the disqualification of my map and ElfWarfare had that problem with his WorldEditor, so the map will be in the contest again soon, as far is I hope]

Did you make it just for this, or did it have more to it at one point? For some reason the script for that is broken, and apparently that's all their looking at.

Well i think maps are disqalified because WE said it wasn't melee. I DLed Kams map and in fact it wasn't melee. You had a custom marine and space orc if i remember well. If you'd remove these the map would be considered melee. Also i'm not sure about the teams. I'll have a look at other maps that are disqualified to see why they weren't melee.
