warcraft monsters based on...

hey, i was just wonderin..
isnt a "" based of a ""
murgul=troglodite
kodo beast=rhino
thunder lizards=stegasuarus
and some others..
i love how they made them so unqui.
but yet, it would b alot more fun if they based of weirder creatures..not known ones like dragons, orc, wolfs etc.
yet i seem to like how they based it off them.

Trogdolytes are DnD creatures who, from what I've seen of them, are distintively not fishy

What Murlocs/Mur'Guls come from would be the Sahuagin, a fish like race from DnD. Or at least that's what the WoW model files want me to believe...

Anywho, other things?

Kodo Beast: Buffalo/Rhino mix
Tauren: Minotaur
Hydra: Sea Serpents, not the original Hydra

The original Hydra was a 9 headed serpent. The Warcraft Hydras are three-headed, even though there is the attempt to emulate the multi-headedness with the spawning of the lesser ones upon death. However, the hydra, if I remember correctly, wasn't a swimming creature

Is it that hard to say no to dragons and orcs to fantasy games?

i mean dragons r cool and orc r too. but wat if we had a draconda, a dragon but with many cooler or usaul features than normal dragons, or orcs with dogg faces or wings or somethinn..
and yes, i love dragons in my game..i just make different types of dragons instead of sayin red dragon or blue dragon.

DnD. LoL. That game is nothing, let alone inspiring. With the exception of new stupid creatures, pretty much all their influence comes from other sources. So anyone claiming 'x' copied DnD should be shot.

Most medieval fantasy worlds are largely based on LoTR, and LoTR is largely based on norse mythology, races like dwarves and elves originally come from Scandinavia.

hmm..lol, dragons came from were exactly? cuz the british and both china fantasied the dragon. i think they got made them up from dino bones they found..

Indeed. And I'm sure you already know, Olof is likely derived from old Norse 'Olaf', meaning Relic.

How far does your Nordic interests go? Just that my mod has a race based heavily upon such a culture.

WW; I believe the oldest evidence of a Dragon is from China, about 2000BC. It's quite likely the idea spread, but European Dragons are quite different to Asian Dragons.

yes, but they both breathed fire, they both had scales from wat they belived. ya, i guess they could hav spread the idea.Hmm.. so many major things are based off many meger things.

Another two monsters...

Felhound: Khornate Flesh Hound, Warhammer
It does not really look like a flesh hound, but the idea is the same.

Doomguard: Bloodthirster, Warhammer
The same blood red being with rune armor and chaos weapon.

nah, i say doomguard looked like the demon lords from D2, in which they got that off D1 and then in which they got from the idea of the evil cursed thing which i really despise..the devil.

chinese dragons are very much different from european dragons. they resemble more of serpents, and they don't have wings. they mostly align themselves with the good people, and usually, it will bring you good luck if you saw one(something like that). and yea, i'm a chinese.

u r? cool. im part filipino but they havnt really made many imagianry stuff up. so i stick to world wide fantasy. some chinese dragons had wings, small ones but of feathers..well i thikn htey did, unless..hm..im not sure now..

Dragons, like all mythological creatures, are derived from nature, storytelling and exaggeration.

Dragons could be any elaborated sea serpent, lizard or giant eagle/buzzard in the right person's eyes.

hmmm..yes..they could, but its a shame they didnt base any wc3 unit on the roc(giant eagle/hawk). Hmm...i might makeone actually....
