Whats so great about Dota?

I've played Dota a few times, and I don't think its all that great. Hell, I don't even know what it stands for. Some other internet nerds argue thats its the greatest freakin' thing to happen to mankind since Einstein or Jesus. If you ask me, its just a bunch of jackasses calling eachother n00bs, and keep saying "No leavers, n00b."

rofl i second that president vote and yeah you right is all people do is say n00b or SLOW DLER (not me of course my cable pwns em) or BAN HIM there is nothing good about it just 1 level higher can make that person unstopable sometimes completly unbalanced the most annoying thins is thats all you ever see ive got a acc i rarly use on TFT called anti-dota-tower i only play it with a friend or 2 since i know thier not realy nerds like all other dota players

if it was up to me i would change it to "defenders of the ancient nerds who cant stop baggsing everyone think thier cool but thier geeks

The fun of dota is within the heroes and the fast paced action of it, less then the long tearm strategy and planning that are involed in many other aos's, while still having elements of strategy and teamplay it is more a game of countering and timing.
Dota is balenced is not direct, but simply is balences through imbalence, certain heroes own other heroes and certain heroes do not, it is as simple as that.
In public games the gameplay is chaotic and most of the time the teams will fight amongest each other, concerning kill steals and noobies. Ok, now you might be asking your self "how is someone a noob at dota?" it is quite simple, and it comes down to three key factors.

1)Know your opponent: One of the biggest aspects of dota that seperates so called "leet" players and "omgwtfnoobs". Dota is comprised of over 50 heroes and each has there own strengths, weaknesses and extremely powerful abilites, to fight aginest the hero in your lane you must know what abilites they posses and plan ahead so that you can avoid or prevent them from using them aginest you.

2)Item Builds: One of the key points of dota are item builds, the correct items on a hero can make them goldy while the wrong ones can screw him to shreads. Knowing which items work well with your hero and which ones are most effective aginst your opponets heroes is key to dominating the game.

3)Matchups: While it is rare to see the players waiting or discussing which heroes they will pick to fight the opposing team it is still a very importent aspect to the game, if the opposing team has a large number of casters it would be best to pick an anti caster such as the anti-mage or scilencer while if they are made of many assasin heroes it would be best to pick a tank hero like pudge or sven. It is also key to choose your enemy, if you are up aginst your weakness in a lane it is best to change to somewhere where you will not be at a disadvantage.

As a closing note, people do not like people to dl DoTa off of battlenet because it takes awhile and many dota players would rather kick a dler and get another player in a few seconds then wati for him, you can download the newest version of dota from there website. http://www.dota-allstars.com/

DotA is an excellent map, you only need know how to play.
Playing dota at the first time reálly appears an unbalanced and fool map, but, when you know about all heroes, all items and becomes a good player, You'll see that DotA is really a good map, The best!

I do not think dota is an excellent map if you read into my sarcasim you would have seen that. I belived that Icefrog should have added in the credits the names of the authors of the models, spells, skins, and icons they used, the only name of a recource maker I have seen in the credits is Vestorians.

But this is my opnion, when you really learn how to play, you start to like DotA!

Theres so MUCH Dota, every other game hosted on bnet is Dota. So pretty much 3/4 of this site hates dota on my caculations....

Alright here it goes... DotA or defence of the ancients is in my opinion the reason for the "dark ages" of warcraft3. most people used to be nice on wc3(MOST); but now all you hear is: l1k3 0mfg d0t4 pwnz0rs j00(note i have not actually heard this exact phrase but ive heard close enough to it) and n00b, slow dl lagger, and of course dler n00b. im not saying this was all caused by dota but in my mind mostly newbies or people who dont understand wc3 and what makes a good map are the ones who play dota(u dont usually hear people who have been playing wc3 from the begining going around saying "omfg u fu*king noob u dl slow u n00b lagger"well...most. if you really look at the game then the main thing that stands out is, the heroes arent balanced in the least which kills the game all together considering the main part of it is using heroes... and don't even tell me this "if you become good at dota than youll love it" crap i have heard that to many times, all dota is is knowing which hero is imba the most and killing everybody else...wheres the fun in that "strategy?" if u can call it that.anyway in conclusion all i have to say is dota has killed wc3 its not fun at all in my opinion and i cant wait till it dies

i like dota but it gets old quick and the people there are fuckin pricks. i swear to god if u r a little worse than one of the players than they will cuss u out and say kick him or remake or something to make them look bad ass. i think the dota games would be mnore fun if there was tomes and they had many different versions (the map's tileset) cuz it gets old.

heres my opinion

1) they play it like hell and its likely to get a dler or 2 and since they play it alot they get sick of dlers

2)a nice person goes along trys it completly not a dota freek and since the people who play dota act like real D**k H***DS those people start to become like them cause thier personaltys influance the person

3)dota is a g4y contagious deasise and people evently give up fighting against dota

im not a dota person but when i used to try see what was so good about dota i always get kicked cause people being f4gs and ive played it before with a friend who doesnt act like the majority of the dota people do but at once stage i almost gave in to dota by thinking of joining dotas constantly but i was smart enough (for once) to not do somthing stupid

It makes me feel good to join a DotA game then leave at the 4 second mark of starting the game. Join me on my conquest, you'll feel better about yourself.
