I find it interesting how the basic forcing one to choose certain items to be a useful addition concept which I feel is pathetic and should not be done is held in high respect by others
At that, imbalanced heroes. I have a friend at school who likes DotA, and I go "DotA is imba" and he goes "Yeah, I found this hero who instantly kills everyone under 600 hp as an ultimate and has enough normal skills to rip them a new one aside from it!"
ROFL los taco that is an excellent idea...i'll try that, if i can ever get inside a dota game to begin with. I really think that people need to create different games there are so many high quality wc3 games out there that just haven't been discovered because everyone is out playing dota. Come on dota players try something new out and I guarantee you'll like it. Btw dota=no creativity just another aos game that is abused beyound belief.
What is great about dota? It helps keeping noobs away from wc3sear.ch, most of them goes to the dota forum - still there are noobs here.
Oh, and the imbalance, stolen objects, lack of tactic, "BANLIST system", and HORRIBLY lame code. It leaks, and even worse it is completely idiotic. Things that could be easily done without even being triggered, is triggered in ways that just destroys everything.
It has stolen resources, which are the only great parts of the map. And even those objects are turned into ****, because of being in that map.
It also lacks story.
What's so good about dota? Nothing.
If you want to play aos maps, don't play the popular ones, the popular ones suck. I only play Blades and Billets these days, it's the only aos map I have played and really liked.[/url]
i dont see how only certain combonations of items can help makes a game strategic thats the opposite, strategy means any combo of items (except stupid ones) can make your hero have different advantages (more health, more attack) plus the l33t players r guys who choose the imba heroes. Maps that are imbalenced which makes them balanced are lame and show that the makers are lazy and they should make real balanced heroes. DOTA destroyed the Warcraft 3 Battlenet Customs!
did any of you ever played DOTA you are so sure it sucks? dota is a good game...but i allmost never play it cuz i know like 20 better games... the reason so many people play only dota is that the first time they login they enter a dota game-and then dont even try anything else! now i played dota for my first time a lot of time after i first joined B.Net (i joined it about 3 days after the game came out-thats the time it took me to finish the campaigens) so i knew better games and i left it alone...
here are a list of MUCH better games: dodge the sheep-a game that was really good but died away sheep tag-hell fun tree tag-same idea tag, your it-freaking good! i LOVE this baby! DoBRP-my favorite...i play it every time i got a chance... CoTRP-same life DoBRP <frogot name>-one more RP life DoBRP final fantasy epic RPG-hell of an RPG... COT RPG-everyone remember this baby right? castle builder-hell fun army map castle builder highlands-same idea but in the snow (the new one) city builder-what happend to this? it was good but died away... argekely TD (i think this is the name)-the first TD we ever seen...from the RoC time...old but hell fun and still the best TD custom hero arena-if they fix some bugs and add a few more abilitys it will be superb!(it is really good allrdy) pass the bomb-silly and fun...nothing more... uthers party-the one with the tons and the winner pick games is so much fun groms party-a twist to uthers party that died...was a little better... golems revolotion-graet tactics (unlike some people think it is ONLY about tactics) warchasers-a blizzard made RPG that is really good azure tower defence-more blizzard map... blizzard tower defence-juss who made it??? hard but fun!
Dota is if not the best AOS out there, but call me biased since I moderate the official DotA Forums.
I've played many AOS's and the only one that come close to Dota is battleships, and thats completely different style!
All other AOS's I've played feel incomplete or half assed to me(Pretty much VG's Me tooism example). Dota feels complete due to the hero balance, item balance, and actually needing teamwork in many ways. No other AOS comes close to Dota's Balance that use 70 freaking heros. There is always one hero with a broken skill that has no counter. Dota has very detailed depth in characters that different playstyles and item builds may make-or-break a character. Other AOS's have usually one super item and one super hero that combined get 500 kills in a row and solo the enemy base. In Dota, you can't solo the base unless your 2 hours into the game with litterally 2x better items then everyone else.
Also dota requires tons of teamwork, its not just get 500 kills, but you have to decide. Go as a group of 5 and Teamkill everyone, or do concentrated pushing in a lane. Also it has variety. Most AOS's I've seen have limited characters/spells/items, which hinders the whole AOS genre. Dota has over 70 heros, About 100 items, and many many spells, All this adds that a single hero can fight at least 3 different ways, for any situation.
The thing hindering dota from new players is its PUB community. They don't understand the meaning of dota. All they do is yell "OMG NOOB" and think the point of the game is getting 1000 kills. If you go into TDA Dota Gaming, or Inhouse games, you realize the depth in strategy in this game, certain enemy line-ups require certain playstyles make each game different and non-repetative.

And you also cannot say that DotA is unbalanced, because the balancement is in the fact that you can Own the game with every Hero, you only need to discover the Hero-style and the best items to do to the Hero. Each Hero has a completely different playstyle and it really makes dota an excellent and non-repetative map. I always play DotA with my friends in the battle net, everyday we play at least 1 game of DotA. When you play with peoples that do not leaves the game and that really play well, you see that DotA is really incomparable to any other AOS map.
I enjoy playing dota and I hate when people, like you los_taco, who only joins games of dota to destroy for others, who like to play a serious match. Why join if u dont want to play? It isnt very funny when I create game after game to play a good game, and every time people just leave to make it a bad game. So dont join if you dont want to play and play to the end! //Infected
Yeah, the map is very balanced, but, can turn into an unbalanced map when playing with noobs and leavers. Normally, public games is very unbalanced because these 2 kinds of fucking players, NOOBS and QUITERS. When you confront a noob enemy you will fast evolve by killing this player and become stronger than the other players. It doesn't implicate to say that the map is unbalanced, the correct phrase is PRO players own the NOOB players, this is the correct term.
I think Dota is shit. i played it ONCE and it took me ages to get it couse most of time the game says DOTA Version 98712943721034 couse there is so MANY! No download. And dont even tell you where to get it from. Like somone said ealier 3/4 of the games R DOTA tft is good but not so good now with all these nerds like ''Dota is god'' What heppend to the clasic maps like Dobrp and Cot Rpg and more. If you ask me Dota has CURROPTED TFT!
xerlaz, I have all dota maps between v5.84 and v6.27b. On ALL these maps in the map description, loading screen and in game (3 places which is hard to miss) it reads where to get the newest version of the map. So I dont really belive in you saying that it doesnt. Secondly, playing a map ONCE and say it sucks is stupid, as you cant make a honestly judgement of a dota-like map by only playing it once as it is over 60 heroes, 10 modes and 2 sides. It takes some matches to realize that the map indeed is very balanced, bugfree and very very fun.

Most ppl here probably wont agree that its a great map because they get yellous that dota allstars is hosted 3/4 games on B.net. Yeah, DotA is what the bloody majority wants, but that doesn't make it good. It's HORRIBLY unbalanced, it uses stuff without credits, it doesn't involve strategy of any kind. No thank you, if I should play an AoS map I would take Blades and Billets.
Again, because lots of people hosts it it isn't great, it was like if all people said that the only way to become clean was to take a roll in the dirt, just because many people says it it isn't true.
