I agree with VG, there is a lot of anime cr*p on tv lately (like DBZ, pokemon, megaman X, Sonic X, Digimon, etc.), and they are all realy badly animated, it's a discrace. But not all of it is bad. I haven't watched that many anime movies, but Princes Mononoke, Spirited Away and Grave of the Fireflies are REALY good. All those cr*p anime series on tv are just giving anime a bad name.

Agreed. Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli is basically the Disney of Japanese animation. All their works are highly recommended, anime fan or not. All of their movies are sheer excellence, and I cannot speak highly enouph of them. -VGsatomi
Well, (Japanese) games and anime are essentially the same industry. Quite often people who work on games also work on anime and vice versa. For example, some members of Studio Ghibli (makers of Princess Mononoke, ect) also worked on the Jade Cacoon RPG series, hence why you see so many similarities in art and theme in that series to the movies produced by that studio. -VGsatomi
You know, I TRY to love them, some of my friends who are anime freak always gives me recommendation about which anime or manga that are good.
I care about it, then I copy several anime and manga to my harddisk, read it and watch it, and after least then 24 hour I'm really bored and delete all that **** out from my HD. I don't know, it's complicated beetwen headache because of its awful style and stomachache because its lame storyline.
In fact, i don't like any drama serial or any serial movies, bcause it gives serial boring.
More than that, I hate the people who are so freak about anime and manga.
I agree with Sansui, all anime geek are some kind of weirdo. Worst of all, all these geeks always draw any picture in anime style, showing it to the others geek, and praise each other s*** stuff , while there are many art style instead of anime.
They just become a 'follower' and lose their own 'style'.

I don't know about people who like dressing like anime, or dressing like a movie character, I don't find much of them here.
But here, in Indonesia, since it is a part of Asia, I found much anime geek even just in my classroom.
Firstly, I think it just me who said anime geek sucks, but after that, i know several person who don't like anime geek to, and several person who like anime, but not as geek as them. Several girls also agree with me, that anime geek is such a weirdo.
Actually, I hate people who dress like anime character, movie character, movie star, hip-hoppers, metal death, or any s*** like that. They just lose theirselves.
And punk is not about dressing like s***, it's about ATTITUDE. Watch it.
Ok, too much blabla for me to look around but I'll tell you my opinion about animes.
There are anime for small children, and anime for other people. Take Pokemon, Digimon, Sailor Moon and other such animes. YES, I used to watch these all when I was a child and I even have Sailor Moon on CDs and from time to time it feels good to look at an episode or two, because it reminds me of cool stuff I used to do in the past. These are the "cartoons" of my childhood and I will not forget them. Oh, and I now hate Pokemon.
On the other hand, there are animes with such themes and action, that I could hardly believe that they are made for children. I recently saw "Ayashi no Ceres" and to be honest, I was quite shocked of what I saw. Everybody slept with everybody, even though it wasn't porn or something. In the beginning it seemed like it was a soft anime, until a lot of people started to die in an awful way, and well, yeah, the everyone with everyone stuff. Heh, I'm exaggerating a little but that one is surely not an anime for kids.
And I find animes an original thing. Just because you found crappy animes or those from the first cattegory (some of which indeed suck, but others are cool ) doesn't mean that all animes suck. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that that thing must really suck, because a lot of people like animes. If animes would've been so bad, nobody would've watched them.
Ok, and getting to the "people who get dressed like characters in animes", ok, I understand that some kids might do that. But it's pathetic. Yes, it's fun to watch it, but that's it. Don't push it! Don't turn an anime into an obsession. It is just a movie and nothing else. It's cool to dream, but... not lead that to extreme.
You would be surprised to see how many people watch animes, and have clubs of animes and stuff like that. Even here in Cluj-Napoca there is a club (I think... I saw something on the internet when I was looking for a music theme) but I personally find the "time sparing" into such a club a waste of time. Ok, maybe people in that club exchange opinions about different animes and even exchange animes but I'm not that attracted to animes. I rarely watch one (I have a friend who is an anime maniac and has hundreds of CDs with animes taken from Torrent) and he sometimes gives me some so that I can watch when I have some time and I feel like... But that's it. No obsession, just entertainment.
Oh, and I almost forgot... I loved "Spirited Away" and "Howl's Castle" movies. Those are the only anime movies I've seen (non-series) and I really liked them. As for series, my fav remains Sailor Moon. It has some cool ideas and some funny parts. It's probably because I didn't see many other series...
