Okay, what I'm trying to get at here is that people should not generalize by simply saying "all anime sucks." Given that there is as much diversity in anime as there is in normal movies, saying anime sucks is like saying "all movies suck" since anime is not a genre in its self, but contains all the genres that normal movie catagories have. And if you think all movies suck, then I guess media entertainment is simply not for you, and should bother to respond to topics like these.

all anime sucks. i dont enjoy watching drawings do things, never did. plus i do not consider anime "MOVIES" i think of them as Cartoons, or animations. A movie to me consists of real people being videotaped with things that look real so 3d animations that are realistic or photo real drawings could work..

So a movie is not a movie just by the format of the media in which the movie was made is different then the norm? Silly. A movie is defined as a "motion picture". Whether the frames are pictures of live actors or pictures of drawn cells makes no real differance.

Interesting point, i never saw anime like movies...

i always saw them as cartoon, its hard to say say this in a way you understand it but i see anime to laugh and entertain myself, not that do not entetain with movies, its just that i prefer a whole role of action movies rather than anime. i just like anime who got all those fantasies, powers and laughable situations.

wanna know what? i like them both, just see them in different ways. and stop talking about "all anime is crap", this is a dumb afirmative

Not too serious point of view:
- Some animes are crap
- But some animes are so incredibly good.
- I find that some americans dislike anime just because it wasn't made on their country, sad but true.
- I like some US cartoons too but some of them are crap.

Serious point of view:

Every single thing on the TV sucks, I find it actually childish to say "All Anime Sucks " or "All anime is crap" and give reasons that work for everything out there.

Let me name Reality Shows, The teletubbies, "Cartoon Cartoons" , "Sesame Street" . bunch of crap the TV is just crap, everybody migrate to the web!

In fact the web itself is incredibly full of crap and anybody with 1 year of experience or more on internet navigation should be sure about it.

Movies? No thanks.

Computer Games? hahahaha.

It is dumb, to expect "realism" from the TV, not even the news broadcasts are realistic, specially if you live in the US.

Anime is a waste of time? Duh, enternainment is another way to say "Waste of time" so better live with that or start reading books before saying things like all anime sucks because it is unrealistic.

And latelly there are a bunch of books that suck too, Is anybody body else tired of "You can do it as long as you trust on yourself" Cliche books? I am , those things should be burned to hell, and their authors castrated.

What about fuck ing Harry Potter? damn, nobody cares about his balls of fire or whatever, please and that was actually a book? And don't make me talk about Lotr and Starwars, useless crap.

"Cultural" Movies? Yeah sure according to the film critics, those guys actually seem to love all the other kind of Movie garbage including: Romantic Movies, Movies about suicide, Movies about homosexual relationships, Movies about abortion, Drama.

Bunch of wastes of time.

And I could continue judging everything else but I have to sleep I have classes at 8:00 AM, talking about wasting my time.

Vex you right tht most things but you take several things way to far.
I agree that lotr and star wars suck and i agree that reality tv and all that garbage sucks. but i can honestly say in my opinion ALL ANIME sucks.

prove to me how any of it is better than an actual movie.

how can poorly drawn cartoons be better than a live film, if both are supposedly good quality.

and yes this is a waste of time, but im on vacation so take that no anime club bastads to deal with for a week!

honestly half of those kids dont shower. and the other half think they ARE the characters from the shows... just like the D&D club scary sight.

anywho its all good till you take it too far... just like "punk", and "ghetto"

prove to me how any of it is better than an actual movie.

Well, to do that you would actually have to WATCH the ones I recommend...and I'm sure I would know your answer to that.

But here's some other facts; the Japanese are every bit movie fans as Americans. Before the release of princess Mononoke, E.T was the hight grossing movie in Japan. Aftrer being taken by Mononoke, it was beaten that same year by Titanic. (E.T. was also the highest grossing movie in thr US before Titanic) Since then Spirited Away smashed Titanic's record. So 2 of Japan's top 4 money making theater movies were anime. And before you say "well who cares about Japan", let it be know that they, though perfectly legel means, get our movies in the theaters before we do. And, in perspective to population, movies earn as much in Japan as they do here per capita.

Here's a list of the top 25 gossing movies in the US. Tell me how many of them are animated. You may not think of them as good as live action, but its undeniable that they are just as successful.

And as for anime, here's what was said about Spirited Away, Japan's most successful movie;

-- In 2002, Disney acquired the rights to "Spirited Away," an animated movie by the Japanese master Hayao Miyazaki. The highest-grossing movie in Japanese film history, "Spirited Away" became the first animated film to win the top prize at the Berlin Film Festival and the first movie to have earned $200 million at the worldwide box office before opening in the United States.

I agree that about 90% of all anime is really not that good. There are a lot of copycats that follow everyone elses or over-explored themes, making for predictability, and some developers lack real creativity. But the remainaing 10% are real gems, and those are what I collect.

And yet again I agree with VGsatomi.

i have one thing to say... millions loved hitler.

millions love saddam...
millions love kim jong...
millions upon millions love ddr... and it sucks.

il gladly give any film you recommend a chance, but

if there was a good anime, and a real movie of the exact same thing which was not cheezy but very well done and good which would you consider better?
#41
from what I'm reading there is no point in convincing Sansui that there is also anime that doesn't suck, so I think it's better if we all stopped agrueing about anime.
#42
yes most people say that when they have no possible way to prove their side.

thats why im talking with veggie and not you olof.
Olof, next time add to the conversation do not spam.

its not like im trying to get you to hate anime, so wh y try to change my view on it? even though it seems most people who watch anime always try to do that.

honestly trying to prove anime sucks or does not suck is like trying to prove being punk is cool or not cool.

its all up to the opinion of the person.

and frankly i still do not see why people like these cartoons so much. thats all ive been trying to figure out.

mainly its the art style that makes me angry.. im not sure why but i just do not like it... and ive see some of the more detailed anime.
#43
lets just keep it on that some people don't like anime adn some do...
#44
what FACTS?
#45
forexample that some are badly animated, and some realy do have good animation
