WoW guild pulls a Phred Phelps

I think, like VG said, the line was crossed by a mile. Even considering doing something like that crosses the line, but doing it and making a video, and gloating about it, that's miles beyond the line. Blizzard can't do anything, but I think public opinion is completely against them.

Who really cares. i think that raid by that clan was a good thing for them just proving that games are for fun. you don't see anybody from Half-Life 2 stoping a match just for a moment of silence for there clan leader who died. I'm pretty sure that none the clan that raided them lost sleep over it. This can go down as "Takes games to searsly list" along with having weddings in games. like i said probly a good thing for those people to get there butts kicked in a GAME showing that there still players that like to own people in games. I admit its would be sad but how you like to be remeberd by your fake mage or real life?

Basically, i couldn't help laughing at the vidio, which obviously alot of time and work was put into.

But I really feel sorry for the girl, her clan members, and most especially, her parents.

But, the raid was not mocking her ; it was mocking the stupid idea of a virtual Funeral. Things like that should be done in real life. It was inapropriate. If you want to remember her, say a prayer for her tonight.

And to be honest, what better way to leave then with an huge battle in your name at your favourite place. May have been more a masacre, but yet it really was quite a way to go out with a bang. I dont beleive serenity now, or any of their suporters have done anything wrong.




And, i myself will say a prayer for her tonight. May she be given the quality and goodness now, that she has given to so many others. And her name be remembered as someone who tried so hard to improve the lives of others. Whatever she experiences now, we all are sure of one thing: Her good soul will go to good places.

Well... what can I say... damn... I don't like this situations. I understand this funeral what meaning it had, mostly when people wanted to share the video with family of this girl to show she was liked etc. The things I hate most was this rogue or whatever disguised with the crowd, and that quote "Nice day for a memorial" or something... that pissed me off. I have few other questions, did this guy jumping in water escape? Why ppl weren't running like hell? Oh and some question... I don't know WoW much I only played it on PvPGN to get a feeling of this game, are the dead characters resurrected or something, or is it like diablo's hardcore mode?

Hmm... next time when doing something like this guards must be set to warn in time.

Weddings is totally different than funerals, even stupid people know that. Weddings in WOW are for people who meet their couple over the game. Funerals are for remembering those WHO DIED! Ummm...that video was really low quality. It wasn't funny at all. Someone died in real life from a stroke, and they videoed a funeral raid. For crying out loud, they did plan it out. Go to their website! You'll see all the tactics and plans for the raid. If I owned wow...man I wish i could have done something to help...I can't believe I couldn't save the funeral goers...

Funeral Disruption

Excuse me, I've attended a funeral in another game before for a character and person who died. Actually I've attended more than a few. Each time there was a funeral for a beloved character&person that died, the people running the world were always in full attendance to show their respects. There were special flowers and foods brought in and the employees of the world would transform a person's favorite zone from PvP to Non-Agression for the day of the ceremony. They also dedicated a new celestial body of stars to the heavens of the world when a beloved employee died. For every PC that dies in real life, a new star is added to the night skies tagged with their primary character name.

If any nut-heads ever so much as attempted to disrupt the proceedings they were immediately killed without hope of ressurection. If the same person controlled multiple characters who attempted to be so disrespectful/disruptive they faced account termination for a few months before they were allowed to come back.

Yes, they lost a few account holders that way, but they did it to keep the majority of people happy. If communications with the WOW employees turns up empty-handed, there is an alternative. You can boycott/overload the game servers in peaceful protest. How you choose to do this is up to you. But I think an organized massive in-game protest&parade of Alliance & Horde clans might be a start.

A few more things... if I were playing in WoW I would be playing a Bard, and if I were playing on that server, I would pen my own songs and sing/spam them in the townships mourning the loss of this favorite PC and praising everyone who died that day to attend her funeral as heroes of a noble cause. I would make no mention of the clan that attacked them except for a most vague reference. Perhaps simply as the dark ones.

I wouldn't just sing such a song once, I'd remmember to repeat it every month and every year, lest anyone forget.

As a performing bard in a number of games and having had a number of rude people throw rocks (and worse disruptions) at me to disrupt my singing or performing or any other public events. I suggest that perhaps an informal Security Clan be formed of respectful members to act as a Guard made up of Alliance & Horde members when a funeral or other mutual event takes place in a PvP area.
