Hero Making Contest

Vexorian... Are we allowed to use the spells for the Spell Olympics for this hero as well? Cuz then I have a little more work and it's done. Else... life sucks.

If we are going to use trigger or jass enhanced spells should we desigin them to work with 12 players or for just one?

@Lord Vazacaks: Well, it's supposed to be like Blizzard's heroes, so it should work for both multiplayer and single player.

What is it about this contest that has inspired every noob and his mother to infest the Spells Section with crap? Do these people actually think that they have a chance of winning when all they do is change the art and tooltips of a few spells - something that any first time map-maker could do in five minutes? Half of these submissions don't even follow the rules! The section trolls don't even bother to flame them anymore because they're just so many and so stupid! 90% of these submissions aren't even worth the space that they occupy on the screen. Not even 10% of these heroes were made by people who actually know what they're doing! Oz02, after the contest ends, will I be allowed to delete the 30+ crappy submissions?

I agree with you The_Raven. If people just read the rules and not make stupid comments and not advertise, then this post wouldn't be 10 pages long!! People also send in everything they make which wastes time for everyone. Like you said, people just change a few values of spells and change the names then submit it in. So when I heard you were going to delete some spells, I thought it was great. The spells section is one of the only sections that hasn't stretched out long like the models and skins section. I think all submitted items with a 1 should get deleted by all the moderators.[/quote]

Only reason I advertised was because I've had almost 60 dls on my hero and not one comment. Not one 'Nice work' or 'omg your a noob'. Even the noob heros with spells that don't even have tooltips are getting more comments then mine, and I just want to know what people think.

I also agree with The_Raven. I have been testing out the heros so I can see what I am up agenst, and I have considered that time wasted! almost all of the heros I have looked over were unbalanced, not following the rules, or not origenal! I cannot wait until this contest is over so that people will stop putting in such bad heros so I can see what heros are the best.

I gave up the contest because I realized that I wouldn't have the time to make the hero. Hope I'll get the next contest. I even gave up the Spell Olympics though I had some spells for that too. You will be able to see the spellswhile I'll add them one by one. I need to edit them a little and I guess it's the best alternative ^_^. Good luck to those who entered the contest though I'm pretty disappointed because most of the heroes suck. I was expecting better ones.

Unfortunately yes, most heroes suck, but there are a few what are really good. I almost tried out all the heroes of the contest, and i can say people either can't read or just ignore the rules.
At least the half of the heroes so far will be immediately disqualified because of breaking the rules.

And about the sucky heroes: i just can't understand why people made such heroes. Spell section used to contain quite good spells, and i though that people will make even better if it is about a competition. At least some of them have slight triggers, but one of the largest problem is the lack of ballance. Why are there abilities what make the hero almost invincible? And anyway some of the heroes have just so high attributes, that they're invincible anyway. Around 80 attack dmg is extremely imba at even at lvl10 (i have played a lot with AOS:EC, and some heroes don't have so much dmg even on lvl20!!!!!!)

And what's the point in just slightly modifying abilities and claim they're new? At least do something with it that isn't so natural. You can do wonders with a summoning spell even w/o triggers!

so i cried a river. I thought this competition will be about who can make the best spell/hero ideas. There are only a few heroes what worth something. So it would be good if people would stop submitting heroes that has no point.

CryptLord... No offense but even your hero has a couple of skills which IMO are changed just a little or not changed at all. I understand that some people don't know triggering but this is a hard contest (lol... not really but anyway) where people are supposed to do triggered skills or at least original. I've seen that "Storm Earth and Fire" untriggered and it rocks even without triggers. I don't buzz my head and try to do things without triggers, though I wish I knew JASS as well ^_^. I have decided to make a couple of spells which would at least be changed (Check them if you want...) and balanced as well. I hate unbalanced spells. And btw, never say that your own hero is very cool becaues it is kinda lame. And taking the skills, Stenge Aura is just a polarized Unholy Aura, the Rock Throw is actually Hurl Boulder as for Share Lefthover it's just a powerfuller heal. Sorry but not something very original. At least it's better than that Murloc Creature (bleah...).

Btw guys, I can't wait to release my martirism spell. I'm sure you'll love it. ^_^

Well mee too... As i've seen some JASS spells you can do much more things with it than with triggers. I tried to learn from some of the maps like these, but i can't separate what is a comment and what is code. And of course without the basic knowledges even if i knew what is the code i coldn't do anything with it...

Hmm so sadly i must be satisfied with the triggers (tho i really can't complain - this is the best editor for a RTS game ever released, and gives u much more freedom than any other...)

Not all cool spells have to be JASS. Look at Atmosphere in the Directers Cut. Coolest spell I've ever seen, althow it uses a hole #$%@ load of triggers, it uses no JASS what so ever.
